Kobe, a six month old Miniature Pinscher, has joined OffLeash SoCal for our Two Week Board and Train program. Kobe comes to us with typical puppy behavior: jumping to greet, lack of following commands when distracted, not walking properly on leash, and chewing on things he’s not suppose to. Over the two weeks Kobe will be working on his off leash obedience and manners. Check in to see his progress!

Kobe has settled in well and has made himself right at home. He is having a blast with all his new doggie friends. He has been running around and playing nonstop since he’s been here.

Today Kobe and I went to the park to start his training. I introduced and conditioned him to the ecollar. We practiced commands Sit and Place. Place is a command where Kobe must sit or lay on a defined object. This command is great for building confidence as well as teaching him to be calm and relaxed. He did great on his first day of training!

Today Kobe and I went to the park to work on his commands. We practiced more of Sit and Place. We worked on a new command, Heel. Heel is still a work in progress, but Kobe is walking better. He is walking closer to my side.

Today Kobe and I worked on his commands around the neighborhood. We practiced more of his Sit, Place, and Heel commands. We also practiced two new commands: Come to Sit and Down. Down was a little bit of a struggle. It‘s not his favorite command to do, but the more we practice the better he will get at it.

Today Kobe and I met up with other OffLeash SoCal trainers and their pups, so Kobe was able to practice his commands around plenty of dog distractions. We did a pack walk to a local coffee shop. Kobe did great heeling with all the cars driving by. He wanted to go up and say hi to all the dogs when he first saw them, but I didn’t let him. He has to learn to stay focused on his commands and ignore dog distractions. We are still working on the Down command. Kobe still likes to put up a struggle with that command.

Today Kobe and I went to the park to work on his obedience. He learned a new command, Come to Heel. This command is a little tricky, but Kobe is a smart boy and got the hang of it pretty quick. He is doing a great job with his training. We just need to tighten up a few commands and soon we can try working semi-off leash.

Today Kobe and I went to Huntington Beach to work on his commands around distractions. It was very busy, so Kobe was a bit distracted with everything going on around us. As we walked around and practiced his commands, he relaxed and became more focused. He did great around the crowds of people, but wanted to say hello to every dog that passed by us.

Today Kobe had a little upset tummy, so we stayed home and worked on his obedience.

It could have been the hot weather or something he might have ate. I gave him some white rice to help soak up whatever was bothering his stomach. I used his friends as a distraction. I let them run around and play while Kobe worked on his commands. He was distracted and wanted to join in on the fun, but I made sure he focused and followed through with his commands. Once our training session was over I let him play with his friends.

Today Kobe and I went to the park to work on his commands. We met with other OffLeash SoCal trainers and their pups, so Kobe was able to practice around dog distractions. He practiced all his commands semi-off leash. He did very well. We just need to tighten up a few of his commands and he will be ready to start working completely off leash.

Today Kobe and I went to the Montebello Mall to work on his off leash obedience around distractions. He did very well! Kobe was focused and obedient. He would have been completely off leash, but security wouldn’t allow it, so I just let him drag the leash around while we practiced. Kobe had a few admirers who watched him train. He received multiple compliments on how well behaved he is.

Today Kobe and I went to The Citadel Outlet to work on his obedience around distractions. He was completely off leash today! He did a great job. Kobe was focused and obedient, even with other dogs barking at him. He received a lot of compliments on his good behavior.

Today Kobe and his friend, Olive, joined me on a shopping spree at The Block at Orange. Kobe practiced his off leash obedience around distractions. He did very well. The only thing he got distracted by were the pigeons, but once told him ‘off’, Kobe stopped focusing on them and went back to filling his commands.

Today Kobe took the day off from training and spent the day hanging out with his friends before he goes home tomorrow. I gave him a bath so he could be clean for tomorrow, but he didn’t stay clean for long. He rolled around and wrestled with his buddies. Kobe can’t wait to go home and show you everything he has learned!
