Kobe | Miniature Pinscher | Los Angeles, CA | In-Training

Kobe, a six month old Miniature Pinscher, has joined OffLeash SoCal for our Two Week Board and Train program. Kobe comes to us with typical puppy behavior: jumping to greet, lack of following commands when distracted, not walking properly on leash, and chewing on things he’s not suppose to. Over the two weeks Kobe will be working on his off leash obedience and manners. Check in to see his progress!

Kobe has settled in well and has made himself right at home. He is having a blast with all his new doggie friends. He has been running around and playing nonstop since he’s been here.

Today Kobe and I went to the park to start his training. I introduced and conditioned him to the ecollar. We practiced commands Sit and Place. Place is a command where Kobe must sit or lay on a defined object. This command is great for building confidence as well as teaching him to be calm and relaxed. He did great on his first day of training!

Today Kobe and I went to the park to work on his commands. We practiced more of Sit and Place. We worked on a new command, Heel. Heel is still a work in progress, but Kobe is walking better. He is walking closer to my side.

Today Kobe and I worked on his commands around the neighborhood. We practiced more of his Sit, Place, and Heel commands. We also practiced two new commands: Come to Sit and Down. Down was a little bit of a struggle. It‘s not his favorite command to do, but the more we practice the better he will get at it.

Today Kobe and I met up with other OffLeash SoCal trainers and their pups, so Kobe was able to practice his commands around plenty of dog distractions. We did a pack walk to a local coffee shop. Kobe did great heeling with all the cars driving by. He wanted to go up and say hi to all the dogs when he first saw them, but I didn’t let him. He has to learn to stay focused on his commands and ignore dog distractions. We are still working on the Down command. Kobe still likes to put up a struggle with that command.

Today Kobe and I went to the park to work on his obedience. He learned a new command, Come to Heel. This command is a little tricky, but Kobe is a smart boy and got the hang of it pretty quick. He is doing a great job with his training. We just need to tighten up a few commands and soon we can try working semi-off leash.
