Meet Kobe! He's a fifteen-month-old Cane Corso from Lakewood, California, here for our Two-Week Urban Board and Train Program! Kobe is a big, strong, friendly guy who loves meeting people, but he also loves pulling on his leash and has a hard time responding to obedience commands, especially when there are distractions around. Over the next fourteen days, we'll be helping Kobe improve his obedience, leash manners, and overall manners both in and out of the house while building his focus and reliability. We're excited to help him become the best pup he can be, so stay tuned for Kobe's two-week transformation!

After picking up Kobe, we spent some time getting acquainted and letting him settle in. He's a very friendly dog with lots of enthusiasm! One thing that stood out right away is that Kobe is a strong puller on the leash and is always excited to keep moving. After arriving home, we went for a walk together, and he happily pulled for much of the outing.
Even with all that excitement, Kobe showed some promising moments. He was willing to sit for a few seconds at a time when asked, giving us a great foundation to begin building better focus and leash manners.
Once we got home, Kobe settled in nicely and has been a pleasure to have around. He has a fun personality and enjoys being involved in everything that's going on. While we'll be spending plenty of time improving his leash manners, he's off to a great start, and I'm looking forward to helping him develop into a calm, well-mannered companion over the coming days.

Kobe and I spent our day at the park, where we started laying the groundwork for his training! Kobe is a big, strong guy who loves to pull on the leash, so today's main focus was teaching him to pay attention to me instead of all the exciting sights, smells, and sounds around us. As he learns to stay engaged with me, his leash manners and obedience will continue to improve.
We also introduced the Come To Sit command today. For this exercise, I ask Kobe to come to me, walk around behind me, and sit at my left side with his ears lined up by my leg. He's beginning to understand the movement, but more importantly, he's learning that giving me his focus and attention is the key to success. We also slowly introduced the e-collar as a communication tool while we trained, making sure he was comfortable with the process. Kobe had a great first full day, and I'm excited to keep building on this strong start!

Kobe and I had another productive day together! Today I spent more time going in depth with his Come To Sit command and showing how we pair it with the e-collar as a clear communication tool during training. The goal is for Kobe to come when called, walk around behind me, and sit neatly at my left side with his ears lined up by my leg. This command helps build his focus, responsiveness, and teaches him exactly where I want him to be.
Kobe is still early in his training, so we're taking everything step by step. He's starting to understand how to follow the guidance from the e-collar and is doing a better job of paying attention to me instead of all the distractions around us. As a big, strong dog, learning to stay engaged with his handler is especially important, and he's making steady progress. He still has plenty to learn, but I'm very happy with how he's coming along so far!

Kobe and I spent the morning exploring the park together and continuing to build on his training! We worked more on his Come To Sit command while also focusing on Heel, the command we use to ask him to walk politely at our side. As a big, powerful dog who enjoys pulling on the leash, Heel doesn't come naturally to Kobe, but he's making steady progress every day. Today he showed more patience, stayed with me for longer stretches, and was beginning to understand the pace I wanted him to walk. He still has plenty to learn, but he's putting in the effort and improving with each session. I'm very happy with the progress he's making so far and can't wait to see what he accomplishes next!

Kobe and I spent today working specifically on his Heel command! Heel means walking politely at my left side with his ears lined up with my leg instead of pulling ahead on the leash. As a big, powerful Cane Corso, Kobe naturally likes to lead the way, so learning to slow down and stay beside me has been an important part of his training.
Unfortunately, my microphone gave out while I was filming today, so some of the clips may show me talking or using hand gestures without any audio. We'll save the detailed instructions for another day, but you'll still be able to see Kobe practicing and making progress throughout the session.
I'm very pleased with how he's coming along. He's becoming more attentive, checking in with me more often, and beginning to understand that staying in Heel is the right choice, even when there are distractions around. We'll continue reinforcing this skill and gradually raising the difficulty as he becomes more consistent. Great job today, Kobe!

Kobe and I had another fun day together at the park! We continued working on all of his obedience commands with a big focus on his Heel and Come To Sit. Considering how strong he was when he first arrived, it's been great seeing him learn to walk politely by my side instead of pulling everywhere we go. He's also becoming much quicker to respond to commands, even with people and other dogs nearby. Kobe still has plenty to learn, but he's making steady progress every day and continues to show a great attitude during training. I'm very proud of how far he's come already!

Kobe and I headed to the park early this morning, and it was a bit busier than usual, making it a great opportunity to practice around real-world distractions. With more people, dogs, and sports activities going on, there was a lot for him to take in. He was a little more hesitant than I expected with all the extra excitement, but he handled it well overall.
When something caught his attention, Kobe stayed close to my side and only needed a few reminders to settle back into his Heel position. He did a nice job working through the distractions and choosing to focus back on me, which is exactly the kind of progress we're looking for. Outings like this help build his confidence while reinforcing his obedience in more challenging environments.
Overall, Kobe was a great companion for our park adventure today, and I'm happy with the progress he's continuing to make each day!

Kobe had a great day today! We avoided the hottest part of the afternoon, but still managed to fit in a healthy balance of training and play during the cooler parts of the day. He continues to settle into his routine and is becoming more responsive to his commands with each outing. We spent time reinforcing his Heel and other obedience skills while making sure he also had opportunities to relax and have some fun. Kobe has been putting in great effort, and it's rewarding to see his confidence and focus continue to improve each day!

Today was all about Door Manners with Kobe! Door Manners teach him to patiently wait at doorways instead of rushing through as soon as they're opened. This helps create safer habits around the house and makes entering and exiting much more controlled.
Kobe picked up the exercise well and is becoming much more patient. While he was eager to head outside at first, he quickly realized that staying calm and waiting for permission was the fastest way to earn his release. We practiced at several different doors throughout the day, and by the end of our sessions he was showing much better self-control. He's making steady progress and continues to become a more polite companion every day!

Today Kobe and I headed to Downtown Alhambra to spend some time in a busier, more urban environment. The outing gave him plenty of opportunities to experience new sights, sounds, and distractions. He started off a little unsure of himself, especially around the large fountains where the loud rushing water and constant movement caught him off guard.
Instead of moving on, we stayed in those challenging areas and gave Kobe the chance to work through his uncertainty while continuing to practice his obedience. With a little time and encouragement, he began to relax and focus much better. Confidence comes from successfully working through situations like these, and today was another great step in the right direction. It was a challenging day, but a very productive one, and I'm happy with the progress Kobe made!

Kobe had a productive day focused on two important skills: Place and Come To Sit! We spent a lot of time working on the Place command, helping him learn to hop onto a raised object and hold the position until released. This was a bit challenging at first, and he wanted to step off before being asked, but with repetition he became much more patient and confident.
We also worked on his recall, and today I made a point to use as little leash guidance as possible. At first he needed quite a bit of encouragement, but as the session went on he started responding more on his own. He's making steady progress, though he'll still need more practice before he's ready for reliable off-leash recalls. Overall, today was a great day with lots of improvement in his obedience commands!

Today was a big step forward for Kobe! We focused specifically on his off-leash recall, and I'm happy to say all of the hard work is starting to pay off. He really started nailing his Come To Sit command without the leash, coming all the way in and finishing in the correct position with much more confidence and consistency than before.
I'm very proud of the progress he's making, but it's important to remember that off-leash practice should only be done in safe, secure, fenced-in areas or at home. We'll continue building reliability in more distracting environments before this skill is ready for anywhere else. Overall, Kobe had an awesome day, and it's exciting to see his training coming together!

Today's Pupdate for Kobe was a nice change of pace! We enjoyed a more relaxing day while staying out of the heat, taking several leisurely walks throughout the day and spending time working on his home manners in between. We also fit in a few well-earned naps, which I think Kobe appreciated!
He was a wonderful companion all day, staying calm around the house and enjoying our time together. Sometimes these quieter days are just as valuable, giving him a chance to practice settling down and relaxing while still reinforcing good habits. Overall, Kobe had a great day, and I really enjoyed spending it with him!

Today Kobe and I headed to the mall for a new adventure! I think he had a lot of fun exploring such a different environment. Like many dogs on their first visit, he was a little nervous at the beginning, so we took our time and let him settle in at his own pace rather than rushing through everything.
As the outing went on, Kobe became much more comfortable and started roaming the environment confidently, taking in all the sights, sounds, and people around him. It was great to see his confidence grow throughout the day, and by the end of our visit he was much more relaxed than when we first arrived. Overall, it was a really good day for Kobe, and I'm excited to continue building on this positive experience during future outings!

Today Kobe and I headed back to the mall for another training adventure, and I'm happy to report that it went really well! He settled into the environment much faster than he did on our last visit, which shows he's already becoming more comfortable with all the sights, sounds, and activity around him.
A big part of today's outing was simply slowing things down. We spent plenty of time sitting near benches, allowing Kobe to observe people walking by, carts rolling past, and all the other distractions without asking too much of him. Giving him the opportunity to watch and process everything at his own pace helped him stay relaxed and confident throughout our visit.
Overall, it was a really fun outing together, and I'm very happy with the progress he's making. Each trip builds a little more confidence, and he's continuing to show that he's becoming a calmer, more reliable companion in busy public places!

Kobe had another good day! We started with a morning trip to the park and headed back again in the evening once the temperatures cooled down. To avoid the afternoon heat, we spent the warmest part of the day relaxing indoors, which gave Kobe a chance to unwind before heading back out later. He enjoyed getting out for his walks while also appreciating some quiet time inside, making for another enjoyable day together.
