King is here for a two-week Urban board and train alongside his sister Millie. He’s a strong, handsome German Shepherd with plenty of drive, and over the next couple of weeks we’ll be dialing in his obedience, impulse control, and confidence in busy, real-world environments.

We’ll be putting a big focus on clear expectations, structure, and consistent follow-through so King can learn how to stay calm and engaged around distractions. He’s already settling in well, and we’re excited to get to work and share his progress as the training unfolds.

King is settling in and doing well overall, though he’s a bit more skittish than his sister Millie as he adjusts to the new environment. He’s taking things at his own pace, and we’re making sure to move at a speed that helps build his confidence without overwhelming him.

We’re working on identifying his baseline obedience and how he responds to structure, and he’s been receptive despite his initial uncertainty. Having Millie around has been a big help for him—her presence clearly gives him reassurance and stability. With consistency, patience, and positive experiences, King is off to a strong start and continues to make steady progress as he settles in.

King has been just fine coming in and out of his crate; however, the first time we put him inside, he was very much opposed to the idea(like we discussed during pickup). With patience, we were able to safely get him inside, but he did create a small scratch above his eye. It has been cleaned and disinfected and we will monitor it very closely. The attached picture was taken immediately after the wound was made. There is no longer bleeding or any signs that he is bothered in the least. We will continue to update you regarding this situation; although, we are sure King is just fine and none the worse for wear.

King’s day was all about routine and comfort. We worked in lots of short, low-pressure sessions focusing on keeping things predictable and easy for him to process. He’s starting to understand leash pressure without rushing, taking his time and staying more composed as he moves through commands in quiet environments.

A big win for King is his crate work—he goes straight in and settles without any hesitation, which has become a strong anchor for him between sessions. That ability to fully relax has made a noticeable difference in his overall demeanor and focus when it’s time to work. He’s not flashy, but he’s thoughtful and steady, and that consistency is exactly what he needs right now.

King’s training today was all about clarity and confidence. Across five short sessions, we introduced the Place command with an emphasis on making it predictable and stress-free. Rather than rushing reps, we focused on helping him choose the place calmly and stay engaged without needing constant guidance. His sessions were quieter and more deliberate, with plenty of reinforcement for making good decisions on his own. We wove in his other commands naturally, keeping the day balanced and productive. He’s starting to look more settled in his work and much more comfortable with the structure.

King had a great day getting multiple training sessions in, including working inside Home Depot with medium-level distractions. We focused on building consistency, engagement, and confidence around all the real-world sights, sounds, and movement that come with a busy environment.

He showed solid focus and made really nice progress staying connected to me while navigating people, carts, noises, and new surroundings. Each session helped reinforce his obedience and confidence, and you can really see him settling in and understanding how to work through distractions instead of getting overwhelmed by them.

Overall, a strong training day for King — these types of environments are huge for creating a calm, reliable dog in everyday situations, and he’s handling it really well.

King was back at Home Depot today, but we intentionally stepped it up by working in even busier, more distracting areas than yesterday. He’s still a bit nervous in that environment, but he stayed in the game and worked through it instead of shutting down.

We focused on forward movement, staying connected to his handler, and following through on commands despite carts, noises, and people moving close by. What really mattered today was his willingness to try — he kept choosing to engage and work, even when it was uncomfortable. That kind of effort is where real confidence is built, and today was a meaningful step forward for King.

King closed out his Home Depot work today, and it was a big step for him. New environments can be tough for him, but he showed real effort and stayed with the program through multiple short sessions. Tomorrow we’ll be stepping into a higher-distraction setting, but we’ll be taking things slow and letting him settle in at his own pace. The goal is confidence first, pressure second — helping him realize new places don’t have to be overwhelming. He’s making honest progress, and each outing is helping him get a little braver.

King was challenged today with moderately high distraction environments — more than he’s normally exposed to — and he stepped up to the task. We worked through his commands with a lot more going on around him, and overall he did a solid job staying engaged and responding, especially considering how new this level of stimulation is for him.

That said, he’s still showing notable reactivity, particularly when another dog is barking at him. Those moments are tough for him, but the important part is that he’s being put in the right situations to learn how to work through it, and each exposure gives us more information on how to help him improve.

Today was about building experience, not perfection. King is getting valuable reps in busier environments, and that foundation is what’s going to help him gain more control, confidence, and neutrality over time. We are so proud of him for pushing through something that’s clearly challenging for him!

King trained today at Century City Mall in Los Angeles, giving him exposure to a very busy, high-distraction public setting. He put in solid work on his commands and stayed engaged through a lot of stimulation. He is still showing reactivity toward other dogs, and at times those reactions can come with little warning. Because of that unpredictability, we’ll be introducing a muzzle for public training sessions going forward. This allows us to safely continue his exposure and work through these behaviors while setting him up for success. He’s still a good dog, and this is part of the process of helping him become more stable and confident in challenging environments.

King’s work right now is about management and long-term change. We’re running him in a muzzle in public — not because he’s a bad dog, but because safety has to come first while we reshape his reactions. He’s not a fan of it, but he’s tolerating it and still showing up to work, which matters.

Neutrality around other dogs is the main focus, and that’s where the challenge is. Reactivity doesn’t appear overnight — it’s something that usually builds over time through repeated patterns and experiences. Because of that, undoing it is also a process. This isn’t a quick fix situation. It will take time, consistency, and a lot of controlled reps. The goal isn’t speed — it’s reliability and safety. He’s got work to do, and we’re in it for the long haul with him.

King had a productive day working on door manners, focusing on waiting calmly, holding position, and moving through thresholds with more control instead of rushing. We kept the sessions structured and paced to match what helps him succeed, giving him time to process and stay in a working mindset.

He also practiced his core commands in busy environments, learning to stay engaged and responsive even with a lot happening around him. His obedience is solid, but his personality means he does best with a steady, gradual build — and today showed that approach is paying off. He put in good effort, followed through on direction, and showed improvement in patience and focus as the day went on.

King spent a good part of today working in a shared setting with his sister, Millie. Walking and moving together adds an extra layer of challenge for him, but he stayed with the group and handled the dynamic in a controlled, manageable way.

The three of us went out on a structured pack walk, and King did a solid job matching pace, staying connected, and navigating the environment without letting things escalate. With his personality, this kind of work needs to be built gradually, and today showed that the steady, step-by-step approach is paying off.

He showed good effort, improved composure, and better tolerance for shared movement in a real-world situation. Strong, practical progress for King today, focused on building reliability so walking both dogs together can become a safe and realistic routine at home.

King worked today alongside Millie, training in close proximity and sharing space throughout the session. There were three other dogs nearby during the work, but he showed no reaction and stayed composed the entire time.

He movedK well with his sister, stayed manageable on leash, and handled the added pressure of nearby dogs without escalating. This kind of controlled exposure is important for him, and today showed solid progress in his ability to remain neutral and steady in challenging situations.

Overall, a strong day for King — calm, focused, and showing improved tolerance and reliability while working around other dogs.

King wrapped up his last day of training today. We focused on finishing strong and filming his final video, and he did very well, showing steady progress and following commands consistently even in higher-distraction environments. While he’s still reactive at times, he handled the day confidently and with focus. It’s been a rewarding experience working with him—he’s smart, determined, and full of character. Tomorrow he heads home, and we’re proud of the growth he’s made throughout his training.
