Kiki, a Labrador Retriever, from Redondo Beach, CA went through the Balanced Canine Training SoCal Board & Train dog training program. Kiki was trained by dog trainer Amanda Lascari in La Habra Heights, CA.
Kiki, a 1 year old Labrador Retriever Mix, has joined OffLeash SoCal for our two week board and train program. Kiki is a very sweet and energetic girl. She comes to us with lack of following commands, jumping, leash pulling, and separation anxiety. Over the next two weeks Kiki will be working on her off leash obedience and manners. Check in to see her progress!

Today I introduced and conditioned Kiki to the ecollar. We practiced commands Sit and Place. Place is a command where Kiki must sit or lay on an object. This command is great for building confidence as well as teaching her to be relaxed and calm. She did a great job for her first day of training! Kiki is having a blast with all her new friends!

Today Kiki and I stayed home for training and tried staying cool in this heat. Kiki practiced commands: place, come to sit, and down. She is very smart and catches on pretty quick, but will be a little sassy when she doesnāt want to listen. Kiki was scared of the dog pool when I first tried to get her to go in, but once she figured it out she was jumping in and splashing around. I noticed Kiki shaking her head and scratching a lot at her right ear today. I checked her ear and it looks clean and there is no odor. I put in some ear wash solution. I will keep an eye on it and see how she feels tomorrow.

Today Kiki and I went to the park to work on her commands. She was very distracted and a bit anxious, in the beginning, with the new surroundings. Once she calmed down and began focusing on me, Kiki did a lot better. We practiced: come to sit, place, and down. We started working on the heel command today. It's still a work in progress, but Kiki is walking much better now. I think the ear wash solution helped, I didn't her shaking or scratching at it like she did yesterday. Still going to keep an eye on it.

Today I took Kiki and her buddy, Blu, to the park to work on their commands together. Kiki did very good with following commands. She did get distracted when she saw some squirrels and when someone let their little dog run up to us while we were working. Her ear seems to be getting better, less of her scratching and shaking.

Today Kiki went to The Citadel Outlets to work on his commands around distractions. It was pretty crowded, so it was a little overwhelming for her when we got there. It was her first time out in big distractions, so I expected Kiki to be more interested in everything else. After we walked around for a while, she became more relaxed and was able to focus. We practiced all her commands. Kiki did a good job today for her first day out in high distractions.

Today I took Kiki to The Pike Outlets in Long Beach to work on her commands in high distractions. She wasnāt ready to have the leash unclippe, but I let her drag it around. She is still a little excitable and gets a little distracted with the crowds, but is fine once I work her through it.

Today Kiki and I met up with the other OffLeash SoCal trainers at the park. Kiki got to work on her off leash obedience around dog distractions. She did an awesome job at ignoring the other dogs and following commands, even though she wanted to go say hi and play with every dog there.
