German Shepherd - Dog Trainer | Kaiser | Irvine, CA

Kaiser, a German Shepherd from Irvine, CA went through the Balanced Canine Training SoCal 3 Week Board & Train dog training program. Kaiser was trained by dog trainer Wyatt Harris in Ontario, CA.

Welcoming Kaiser, a one year old German Shepherd to our 3 week board and train program. Kaiser is here to learn fundamental commands that will give his owners more control over his behaviors such as leash manners and reactivity to other dogs while on walks. Learning to be calm and follow commands even in the presence of new faces. Stay tuned for Kaiser's progress!

Working on teaching Kaiser the "Place" command today. He is learning to sit down on the object that I place him on and then hold it until I release him with "Break". When I break him I give him lots of praise and pet him as a reward for successfully completing the command. Kaiser did not finish all of his kibble at dinner. Great day of training.

Kaiser out walking around some new places with me today getting used to his new environment. We practiced the command "Heel" especially today during our long walk. Teaching Kaiser to not pull when walking on the leash and preparing him to go off leash. We also worked on the "Down" command. Kaiser can be quite stubborn if not in the mood but we use the E-Collar to hold him accountable.

Kaiser out enjoying our evening walk. Today we worked a lot on all of our basic fundamental commands. Kaiser is improving on his leash manners as well as ignoring other dogs while on our walk. He had a bit of loose stool tonight so I will be keeping an eye on that the next few days.

An update on how Kaiser is performing with his Heel command. He is understanding that he needs to match my pace and directional changes so he is now paying more attention to me on our walk rather than our surroundings, this is exactly what we want. He switched to his alternative dog food in hopes soothing his stomach.

A bit of how the cooking process of Kaiser's food has been going. I have been sure to keep the turkey and beef separate for storage and cooking. His food has been switched daily doing an all beef day switched with turkey the following. I believe this is the easiest way for his stomach to handle his different foods. Training went well today with lots of focus on the down command

Some off leash heeling on the track today! Kaiser is showing good improvement on ignoring distractions we run into at the park. He even got to run around on the field and enjoy some well deserved play time after working.

Working off leash around the neighborhood today. Kaiser is doing well but requires E-Collar correction to keep him focused especially around distractions.

Teaching Kaiser how to load up. Showing him to hold patiently until being instructed to load. Also teaching him that he does not need any assistance from me holding his legs.

Weighing in at 64.7lbs, Kaiser has been eating most of his meals and is always excited for food. He especially love the meat add ins. His stool has been solid the last week and is looking good. We passed by some dogs on our walk today that barked at us. Kaisers hair on his back raised up in concern but we continued heeling and he eventually lost interest as we kept walking.

Building his distance and duration down. Compared to where we were at when I first got him, Kaiser has made huge progress. He went from needing to use his muzzle when practicing the command to being able to do it without any leash pressure and now even at a distance, then hold the command until break, Great job Kaiser!

Kaiser getting better and better at holding his commands while around other dogs. The more practice with different dogs the better!
