Joon, a ten month old Goldendoodle, has joined Offleash SoCal for our Two Week Board and Train program. Joon comes to us, knowing some commands, but not always following them distracted, not walking properly on leash, jumping to greet, and being mouthy. Over the two weeks Joon will be working on her off leash obedience and manners. Check in to see her progress!

Joon is settling in well at my home. Got to meet the rest of my pack. She was very excited to make new friends! She has been running around and playing nonstop since she got here. She definitely likes to play rough with the bigger dogs. Joon got to meet the smallest member in the pack, Rufus, the four month old bulldog. Was very gentle socializing with him.

Today Joon and I went to the park to work on her commands. We practiced more of her Sit and Place commands. We worked on two new commands Down and Heel. Not sure if she already knew down, but she caught on pretty quickly. Heel is still a work in progress, but she is walking much better and is not trying to drag me around.

Today Joon and I went to the park to work on her commands. We met with other OffLeash SoCal trainers and their dogs, so Joon had other dog distractions to work around. She was a bit distracted with her new surroundings, which made it hard for her to focus. As we continued to train she was able to settle down and focus. Joon was a bit stubborn with her down command, but I made sure that she followed through and completed them. We worked on a new command, Come to Sit. For this command Joon will come around my right side and sit on my left in the heel position. This command can be a bit tricky, but Joon is starting to get the hang of it.

Today Joon and I went to Lowe’s to work on her obedience around distractions. She was a little nervous when we first arrived, but as we walked around and trained she was able to settle down and focus. We worked on her distance and duration. Joon does pretty well with holding her commands, except when I try move around her. If u try to walk behind she wants to get up and turn around to see where I am at. We will continue to practice and improve.

Today Joon and I went to a local shopping center to work on her obedience around distractions. We practiced all her commands and worked on her distance and duration. Joon was focused and obedient. She did much better with the down command, not putting up a fight when I asked to down. She is getting better with holding her commands, even as I walk around her. She stayed put in one spot as I walked circles around her. Joon did very well with her training today.

Today Joon and I went to Birch St. in Brea to work on her obedience around distractions. We worked semi-off leash, letting her drag the leash around while we trained. She didn’t do too bad. She was a bit excited and distracted with the new surroundings, but as we trained she settled down and focused. Joon is getting better with her duration. Holding a down command can sometimes be a struggle for Joon if she’s a little nervous or distracted, but I reassure her and have her follow through with the command. We just need to tighten up a few of her commands and she will be ready to start working completely off leash.

Today Joon and I trained at home. We practiced all her commands and worked on her distance and duration. I used her buddies as a distraction and let them play around us while we trained. she was a little distracted at first, wanting to go run around with her friends, but as we continued to train, she was able to settle down and focus on her commands. Once training was over, I let her join in on the fun and socialize with her friends.

Today Joon and I went to the outdoor mall to work on obedience around distractions. She was a bit antsy when we first arrived. She was distracted with all the commotion going on around us. Once we started training she settled down and started focusing on her commands. We need some more work around dog distractions. When dogs would pass by, Joon was too focused on them which made it hard for her to listen to her commands. Once the dogs were gone she would go back to her training and do great. Joon had a couple admirers that stopped to watch her train.

Today Joon and I went to the indoor mall to work on obedience around distractions. Once again, she was a bit nervous with the new surroundings. It took her some time to settle down and relax. In the video you can see that she does follow all her commands, but more focused on everything around us, rather than paying attention to me. We need some more work on her greeting manners. Someone approached and asked to pet Joon. She tried her best to sit nicely while being pet, but got too excited and tried jumping up to say hello.

Today Joon and I trained at home. We practiced all her commands and worked on her distance and duration. We also practiced food and door manners. For food manners Joon must sit and wait patiently until given permission to eat. Just because the food touches the floor doesn’t mean she can go up and eat it. For door manners Joon cannot pass thresholds, even if I do, until given permission.

Today Joon and I went to the park to work on her commands. We worked on her distance and duration. Joon was my helper today and assisted me with a lesson. I used her as a distraction for the puppy I was training. Joon was a little excited and wanted to play with the puppy, but made sure she stayed focused and followed through with her commands. We will continue to work around more dog distractions to desensitize Joon when out and public and coming across other dogs.

Today Joon and I went to the park to work on her off leash obedience around distractions. We met with other Offleash Socal Trainer and their dogs so she could practice around dog distractions. Joon was very interested in the other dogs, but still able to focus and follow her commands as we continued to train, she became less interested in them, and more focused on me.

Today Joon took the day off from training and spent her last day socializing and playing with her friends before she goes home tomorrow. I gave her a bath, but she didn’t stay clean for too long. She wrestled around with her buddy getting all dirty again. Joon has done a great job with her training! She can’t wait to go home and show you everything she has learned!
