Jeezy, a three year old Doberman Pinscher, has joined OffLeash SoCal for our Three Week Board and Train Program. Jeezy comes to us knowing commands but not always following them if distracted, not walking properly on leash, being anxious out in public and in the car, and aggression towards other dogs. Over the three weeks Jeezy will be working on his off leash obedience and manners. Check in to see his progress!

Jeezy is getting settled in at my home. He was very anxious on the ride home, but settled down after a little while. He got to meet one my dogs. He didn't lung or bark at her. He actually whined at her, not sure if he was interested or anxious. I let him smell her through the kennel. When I let her out, Jeezy was a little curious but didn't care to go near her.

Today Jeezy and I went to the park to work on his obedience. I introduced and conditioned him to the Ecollar. We practiced commands Sit, Down, and Place. Place is a command where Jeezy must sit or lay on a defined object. This command is great for building confidence as well as teaching him to be relaxed and calm. We met with other OffLeash SoCal trainers and their dogs, so Jeezy had plenty of dog distractions to practice around. He did very well around the other dogs, wasn’t reactive towards them. He did get to see his brother, which made him very happy. I think he was more excited than his brother. Jeezy had a great first day of training!

Today Jeezy and I went to the park to work on his commands. We practiced more of Sit, Place, and Down. We practiced his duration (holding commands longer) and distance (how far I can be away from Bruno while he's in command). We also worked on a new command, Heel. It is still a work in progress, but he is more focused on where I am walking now and staying closer to my side.

Today Jeezy and I went to Lowes to work on his obedience around distractions. He was a little nervous with all the noise and commotion going on around us. Once we walked around he settled down and was able to focus on his commands. We worked on anew command today: Come to Sit. He did a great job and caught on to his new command quickly.

Today Jeezy and I went to The Citadel Outlets to work on his commands around distractions. He was a bit distracted when we first got there, but as we walked around and worked on his commands, he was able to focus. We met with other OffLeash SoCal trainers and their dogs, so Jeezy was able to work around dog distractions. Today was the first time he showed his reactivity. When he saw the other dogs approaching, Jeezy started barking and lunging. We worked through it. I made him practice his commands while the other dogs walked around him. Jeezy settled down and went back to focusing on me and his commands.

Today Jeezy and I went to the park to work on his obedience. We practiced his commands semi-off leash. I let him drag the leash around while we trained. He did a great job! We just need to tighten up a few of his commands and then he will be ready to start working completely off leash.

Today Jeezy and I went to a local dog park to work on his obedience around a lot of dog distractions. He was definitely distracted with all the dogs that were running around, playing, and barking. We will continue to work around more dog distractions so he can become desensitized to them.

Today Jeezy and I went to the park to work on his obedience. We met with all the other OffLeash SoCal trainers and their dogs, so Jeezy could work around a lot of dog distractions. He showed more of his reactivity today. He lunged and barked at a few dogs. I am noticing it's more towards the small dogs than the large ones, even though he gets along great with my dachshunds at home. Once he has his outburst then he is completely fine being around the same dog. Without dogs around Jeezy does great. I don't have to hold the leash and he is focused and obedient. So, we are going to continue to work on leash and work through the reactivity.

Today Jeezy and I went to the Citadel Outlets to work on his obedience around distractions. We met with other OffLeash SoCal trainers and their dogs so Jeezy could practice around dog distractions. He was very reactive towards the other dogs. Today I thought I would try using his prong collar instead of the e-collar to see if that would help with snapping him out of reactivity, but it only seem to make him more agitated and wanting to redirect on me. I still made sure that Jeezy followed through with each of his commands while the dogs were around us. Eventually, as he got tired from training, he was able to calm down and be around the other dogs. We walked around the mall as a pack and Jeezy was fine walking besides the other dogs. At home, his energy is completely different. He’s calm around the other dogs and even playful with them.

Today Jeezy and I went to The Block at Orange to work on his obedience around distractions. We met with other Offleash SoCal trainers and their dogs again so Jeezy could practice around dog distractions. He did a little better today. We worked at a distance around the other dogs, so he wasn’t too overwhelmed and reactive. He was able to focus more on his commands.

Today I gave Jeezy a break from working around dogs and we stayed home to work on his obedience commands. We worked on all his commands. The only dogs he did work around were his friends. I used them as a distraction and let them play while we trained. Jeezy wanted to join in on the fun, but still stayed focused and followed his commands. We also worked on his door manners, food manners, and send away to place. Once training was over I let him join his friends to play and socialize.

Today Jeezy and I went to Hacienda Park to work on his obedience. There was very minimal distractions, so Jeezy was very focused and obedient. We were able to work on his commands off-leash. We also practiced a new command, Under. He did very well and caught on to his new command quickly.

Today Jeezy and I went to the park to work on his obedience. There was mild distractions so he did pretty well. He's was reactive towards dogs that would pass by us. Sorry, I didn't realize I got out of frame when the dogs passed by. In the beginning of the video, Jeezy would have done fine sitting and watching the dogs pass by, but the little boy and his dog ran straight up to us, causing him to react. He also was reactive towards the little dogs on the video. We played the name game where every time I say his name he looks to me. You can see in the video every time I treat him, it is because I call his name and he looks to me. I want Jeezy to get to the point where when he sees other dogs and I call his name he will look to me and not focus on the dogs around him. We are going to continue to train around dog distractions to get him desensitized and not want to react.

Today Jeezy and I went to the mall to work on his obedience. We did have a little set back where Jeezy was reactive towards to small dogs. The first dog we came across was lunging and barking at him, but the second dog was a puppy that wasn’t even paying attention to us. Other than those to incidences, he was very well behaved and obedient.

Today Jeezy and I went to the dog park to work on his reactivity. He much better today. He was interested in the other dogs, but he didn't whimper or bark. Jeezy would watch as the dogs would run around and play. You can see he checks in with me more often. Every time he would look back to me I would reward him with treats. I'm am very proud of him and how well he did today.

Today Jeezy took the day off from training and spent the day playing and socializing with his friends before he goes home. I gave him a bath but he didn't stay clean for long. He wrestled around with his little buddies getting dirty again. Jeezy can't wait to go home and show you everything he has learned!
