Jax | Australian Shepard | Big Bear Ca, | In-Training

Meet Jax! A 10 month old Australian Shepard has joined us for our Two Week Board and Train program! Jax is a rambunctious pup who loves to please his owners! Jax came to us knowing basic commands, but only did them on his time. Whenever meeting new people Jax does get excited and jump at times, during Jax's time with me we will be working on manners! Over the next two weeks, Jax and I will be focusing on learning all the basic commands, along with proofing them off leash in different environments and distractions! Most importantly form a strong bond between handler and pup. Tune in to keep up with Jax's progress!

Today Jax and I went to a local park by my house in San Dimas Ca, to get some engagement training and to see how he is in a public environment with distractions. Jax does get easily distracted by squirrels and other animals. That being said we will be focusing on engagement and the focus command with the handler every day so that we are the most interesting to Jax! Tomorrow we will be starting with recalls and introduction to the ecollar tool!

Today Jax and I took a field trip to meet up with the offleash socal team at a park in Anaheim Ca, to get some training in! Today we focused on the ā€œheelā€ command, as well as getting Jax used to the ecollar tool! Every time I change directions I would say ā€œheelā€ and use the ecollar to get Jaxā€™s attention and follow me. After repetitions of the same things over and over Jax started to pick things up. Overall Jax did a great job today at learning the heel command, especially around other dogs at the park!Ā

Today Jax and I took a field trip to a local home depot near my house in San Dimas Ca! During our trip, we focused on paring the command ā€œsitā€ and ā€œdownā€ with the ecollar tool. Jax did a great job picking things up! We started to add duration between our reps! One thing I noticed is that Jax likes to lean onto my leg every time we would come to a stop. During the next few days, I will be focusing on straightening out Jax's ā€œsitā€ command. Ā

Today Jax and I had a light day, with that being said today we focused on proper socialization with other dogs. He did a great job! He loves to play! Jax and my personal dog Kisa have been playing nonstop whenever they see each other! Soon next week I am going to be training Jax around my personal dog only because they love to play every time they see each other, and Iā€™m going to use that opportunity and train him in front of his biggest distraction which is kisa right now.

Today Jax and I worked on my driveway, with distractions from the street and my dogs around as we work. Today we focused on ecollar heel and reinforcing the commands as well. Once I noticed that Jax was picking things up, I started to introduce place commands for Jax using the chair I had in the garage. Overall Jax did aĀ great job working around my personal dog Pain!Ā

Today Jax and I took another field trip down to my local Home Depot in San Dimas Ca! Today we worked on all of Jaxā€™s commands around distractions, in the video you can see Iā€™m only holding the leash with very loose tension and Jaxā€™s is working perfectly fine and complying to everything I ask. Today I noticed Jax needs extra work on holding his positions such as sit and down. He needs to hold his positions until I give him the release word which is ā€œbreakā€. Other than that, Jax is doing a great job and learning at a fast pace!

Today Jax and I took a trip to a local park next to my house, today we strictly focused on working next to Kisa. We worked on all of Jaxā€™s commands only having the leash dragging. Even though we had a bit of distractions at the park, Jax still did a great job. We are adding more and more distractions to our training day by day.

Today Jax and I took another field trip to my local Home Depot near my house to get some training in! Today during our session we focused on durations, having Jax hold his down position around distraction. In the video, you can see Jax being calm and composed with carts and people walking around him with carts. Later on during our walk tonight, Iā€™m going to be working on more recalls to build our trust for Jax to be off leash!Ā

Today Jax and I met up with the offleash socal team at a local park in El Monte Ca! Today Jax and I focused on working on all of his commands around other dogs! While working I noticed that he needed to work on holding his positions around dogs more! At times when he sees a dog he thinks itā€™s time to play, but in reality he needs to be payingĀ attention to us the handler! Overall Jax did a great job today working around other dogs and trainers!

Today during our training session Jax and I focused on our at home manners! Focusing on door manners teaching Jax to properly wait for us to walk through doors first before him, and at times having him hold his positions while I would walk in and out of the door way.Ā

We also focused on water/food manners for Jax! Teaching him to wait for my ā€œbreakā€ command to get water/food. At first every time Jax would see a water bowl he would bolt towards it and make a mess with the water.

Overall Jax did aĀ great job today, over the next couple of days we will be focusing on being offleash.

Today Jax and I had a session in my front drive way! We used the loud cars and people walking by as distractions. We worked on all of his off leash obedience and commands. Jax has his duration down, now we will be focusing more on his recalls to sit , when I give him the ā€œcomeā€ command heā€™s supposed to run to my right side loop around to my left side and sit. Overall Jax understands all of the commands his being asked to perform!Ā

Today Jax and I met up with the offleash team at a local outdoor outlet to get some training in, along with socialization around other dogs! Jax has a full understanding of all of his commands, now it is just reinforcing the command when needed! Jax is doing great around other dogs, at time he seems interested but he still understands his job.

Today Jax and I had a session on my driveway, we focused on the place to place command! Having him switch from place to place when being asked, along with having him holding his place command as well. When being asked the recall command to heel, he attempted to go to the gate where my personal dogs were. I simply just went up a couple of numbers on the ecollar to bring him back. He has a full understanding of ecollar stimulation and what it means.Ā
