Jagger | Golden Retriever | Los Angeles, CA | In-Training

Jagger, a 1 year old Golden Retriever, has joined Offleash SoCal for our 2 week board and train program. Jagger is a sweet and loving girl who comes to is with some bad habits: jumping to greet, will follow commands when she feels like it, leash pulling, etc. Over the next 2 weeks she will be working on her off leash obedience and manners. Check in to see Jagger’s progress!

Jagger started off her morning with a few laps in the jacuzzi. We worked on commands come and sit. Jagger is doing great with being in the crate, she walks right in when I ask her and she doesn’t make a sound once she’s in there. She’s having a blast playing with all her new doggie friends.

Today Jagger and I went to a local park to work on commands. We practiced come to sit, down, and place. We also practiced the heel command. Jagger did so well, we tried heeling off leash. I let go of the leash and let her drag it, she walked by my side the entire time.

Today Jagger and I did some light training at home. She hurt one of her paw pads while she was playing, scraped it raw. I cleaned it and wrapped it up. She still wanted to run and play but I didn’t let her. I took her to my family’s restaurant for dinner. We met up with some of the other Offleash SoCal trainers and their dogs.

Today I took Jagger to The Block at Orange to practice commands. She did very well with all the people, dogs, and other distractions that were going on around her. We tried some off leash heeling, I let her drag the leash as she walked by my side. She did pretty well for the first day of training in high distractions. I cleaned and bandaged up her paw in the morning after her morning swim.

Today Jagger spent the day out in Newport with her buddy, Oso. She had a great time walking down by the beach. We practiced all the commands with all the distractions around her. We tried to do some off leash heeling but there was a bit too much commotion that it was hard for her to focus. Overall, she did a great job today and we will keep working towards her being completely off leash. I cleaned and wrapped her paw, extra wrapped to make sure the sand didn’t get into the wound.

Working on food manners, teaching Jagger and her training buddy Oso how to eat with the pack. Everyone has to sit, be calm, and wait their turn to eat. They are not allowed to get up to try and eat the other one’s food.

Today we stayed home to train and tried to keep cool in this 102 degree weather. Jagger place in the house to teach her that being inside means she needs to be calm and relaxed. She also practiced door manners and we worked on sharpening up her heel with the weaving poles.

Today I took Jagger to The Block at Orange. We practiced all her off leash commands. She did an awesome job. We walked past another dog that was barking and lunging towards us, and she looked at it and kept walking by.
