Huckleberry | Rottweiler / Husky mix | Los Angeles, CA | In-Training.

Meet Huckleberry! He’s a 2.5-year-old Rottweiler/ Husky mix from Los Angles, CA. He will be joining us for our Two-Week Board and Train Program. Huckleberry is very loving, playful, and really enjoys learning. Areas of concern are his reactivity, his inconsistent obedience, and his inconsistent recall when called. During this training program, we will focus on Leash manners, Door manners, Food manners, Car manners, Greeting manners, leash obedience, and off-leash obedience. Stay tuned for his 14-day transformation.

Today was our first session of training. This was a great opportunity for me to earn his trust and start building a bond. In training, we focused on the Come to sit command, Continuation/ Terminal markers, and being comfortable working closely together. As training progressed, he became more comfortable with me and interested in the training. A great first day of training!

One of today’s sessions took place at the Santa Monica Pier. It was a great opportunity for me to see how Huckleberry reacted in high distraction environments. In training, we focused on the commands Come to sit, Sit, Extended sit, and Heel. The distractions were tough to ignore, but he still did great with learning the commands. I could tell he was really enjoying the new adventure we were on. Another great day of training!

One of today’s training sessions took place at the Santa Monica Pier area. We focused on the commands Come to sit, Sit, Break, Off, and Heel. I can see Huckleberry is still needing some time to trust me, so I’m working at his pace to keep him comfortable and motivated. He did well ignoring the environmental distractions around us and caught on quickly to the commands. Another great day of training!

One of today’s sessions took place in a new park. Everything new creates lots of distractions. During this session we focused on the commands Come to sit, Sit, Off, Place, Break, Heel, Extended sit, and Extended Place. It was also done much with the leash on the ground, so I am able to read if Huckleberry is a flight risk. I didn’t see anything that would worry me and he is right on track! Another great day of training!

One of today’s sessions took place at the park. We worked on the commands Come to sit, Sit, Off, Place, Down, Break, Heel, Extended sit, and Extended Place completely off-leash. Huckleberry had little issues with distractions. I have noticed over the past few days that his training endurance isn’t more than about 15-20 min. I've been cutting his sessions into shorter lengths, but more sessions daily. I’ll continue to push his endurance to see if we can get longer sessions out of him. Nonetheless, I’m proud of Huck’s progress and another great day of training!

Huckleberry did really well with staying in extended commands without breaking them. There were a lot of reactive dogs today and I was very proud at Huck’s composure. Another great day of training!

One of today’s sessions took place at the Santa Monica Pier. We worked on the commands Come to sit, Sit, Off, Place, Down, Break, Heel, Extended sit, and Extended Place completely off-leash. Huckleberry had no issues with focus and staying in command regardless of all the different distractions. The Pier was pretty busy today but that had no impact on Huckleberry’s focus and training. Huckleberry did really well in training. This was a new environment with plenty of distractions, but he stayed focused. One of today’s sessions took place in my neighborhood. We worked on off-leash manners while out on walks. The goal was to have completed obedience despite the oncoming traffic, people, dogs. Huckleberry did very well by not leaving my side and was more focused on training over the many distractions. I had no worries about walking him off-leash. I’m very proud of Huck’s progress and playful spirit! Another great day of training!
