Honey | Golden Retriever | Monterey Park, CA | In-Training

Honey, one year old Golden Retriever, has joined OffLeash SoCal for our Two Week Board and Train program. She comes to us with knowledge of commands but not always following them, being easily distracted, pulling on walks, jumping to greet, and not having a solid recall. Over the two weeks Honey will be working on her off leash obedience and manners. Check in to see her progress!

Honey is getting settled in at my home. She got to meet the rest of my pack. She was a little shy at first, but quickly warmed up to them. She ran around and socialized with her new buddies. She is a little shy around me. I’m sure she will warm up to me once she gets adjusted to her new surroundings.

Today Honey and I trained at home. I introduced and conditioned her to the ecollar. We practiced commands Sit, Down, and Place. Place is a command where Honey must sit or lay on a defined object. This command is great for building confidence and teaching her to be calm and relaxed. She did a great job and caught on to her new command quickly. Above is a video of the ecollar. I didn’t to send one home with you, but please watch this video as many times as you need to become familiar with the training collar.

Today Honey and I went to the park to work on her commands. We practiced more of her Sit, Down, and Place commands. We started walking on her Heel command today. Heel is a structured walk where Honey must walk at my side. It is still a work in progress, but she is walking much better now. She is walking closer to my side instead of trying to drag me around.

Today Honey and I trained at home. We practiced all her commands and worked on her duration and distance. She was a little stubborn with her down command, but I made sure that she followed through with it. We are working on her recall. Honey is still warming up to me, so when I recall her, she is sometimes hesitant to come to me. We will continue to practice her command, build her confidence, and build her trust with me.

We practiced all her commands and worked on her duration. She does very well with keeping her focus on me. Honey did much better with her recall today.

Today Honey and I spent the day at the beach. We practiced all her commands and worked on her distance and duration. She was a little anxious and distracted when we first arrived, but as we walked around she was able to settle down and relax. Her favorite part of the day was playing in the sand. The minute her paws touched the sand, honey had the zoomies.

Today Honey and I went to a local shopping center to practice her commands. She did pretty well. Honey was focused and obedient. We were able to train semi-off leash, letting her drag the leash around while we trained. We need to tighten up a few of her commands and the. She will be ready to start working completely off leash.
