her 14 day transformation!

Harley went to a local park to have her first lesson. First we got familiar with the e-collar. She didn’t mind it at all and was just curious as to what was happening. I also introduced the ‘heel’ command. It did take her a while to get used to walking right next to me, she kept wanting to pull me in different directions. Overall, Harley is a sweet girl! She also ate all of her dinner today and is adjusting well to her kennel. She was a little skeptical about it at first but soon she got comfortable with it. She also went potty and drank plenty of water.

Harley worked on her heel and sit today. She is slowly getting the hang of what heel means. There will be times when we’re walking where she will just stop and not want to move. If I put any leash tension on her she will pull the opposite direction. When we were working on sit she did the same thing, she pushes up with her hips when I was pushing them down to put her in the sit position. I did notice she does sit when I give her a treat. She won’t sit otherwise. We’re taking her training slow since she is a little nervous and unsure. We’re slowly getting to know each other so she is more comfortable being around me. Overall, Harley is being a good girl. We also practiced her come command. She does come up to me but not too close, she’ll veer off to the side or walk past me. I know she’ll come out of her shell soon, with time.

Harley went on a 30 minute jog this morning. While we jogged we worked more on her come and heel command. She still stops a bit but not as much as she did yesterday. She still pulls the opposite direction whenever I give her any leash pressure so we’re working on using my hand as a marker. Anytime she veers the other way, I stick my hand out and she comes closer. She is still having trouble with her sit. We worked on it some more today. She still tries to push up with her back but isn’t as hesitant to sit as she was yesterday. We also went to a local park to work on building her confidence and trust with me. After a couple of minutes she seemed to understand what I wanted her to do. Overall, Harley is getting better each day! She is such a good girl.

Harley worked on more of her heel today at Glendale Galleria. She still struggles with being comfortable enough to walk close to me. To help get her comfortable, we walked really close to the edge of the trolly track or really close to a wall. After a couple of minutes she seemed to not mind as much. She still tries to do the opposite of what I’m asking her to do. If I pull her forward she pulls back. She was really distracted to and wanted to pull ahead of me at times or veer off to the side. Whenever I would correct her she would try and jump up on her hind legs and just bounce off the floor. We did a lot of progress with her sit. She is more comfortable sitting now even if I don’t have a treat in my hand. She does sit about two feet away if I try to put her in a sit close to me. Overall, she is being a really good girl and is eating all of her food. She is improving everyday!

Harley worked on more of her heel and sit commands today at Century City Mall. She is still struggling with her sit commands. She refuses to sit or pay attention to me if there is something else that is grabbing her attention. She didn’t want to sit by the Christmas tree today so we worked on having her overcome her fear of it. We also introduced down today. She struggles with going down; I had to physically help her get in a down position. She would push back and lock her front legs. Just like she did with her sit. After a couple of tries she went into a down but she still doesn’t want to do it unless there is leash pressure. When walking in crowds she tends to veer off to the side and is really interested in what other people are doing. Where there aren't as many distractions she is in a great heel. Overall, Harley is being a sweet girl and is getting the hang of things slowly. She ate all of her food today and enjoyed a bully stick before bed.

Harley worked on all of her commands at the Glendale Galleria. Her heel has gotten a lot better but she still seems to ignore me if I try to get her attention. She is still struggling a bit with her sit command. She’ll do it but won’t hold it for very long, she’ll just get up. She is doing a lot better around distractions but is still really interested in all of the birds! We worked some more on her down and she seemed go in a down position more easily but still needs a lot of guidance and leash tension. Harley also did scrap her leg today in the concrete floor, it's incredibly superficial, but I'm using some anti biotic cream and keeping an eye on it. She also had some puss coming out of her private areas after she went potty today. This is most indicative of mild vaginitis which with daily cleaning typically clears up on its own, but if it continues a vet check up when she goes home may be a good idea. Overall, Harley is eating all of her food and is drinking plenty of water.

Harley worked around my home and neighborhood this Christmas! We worked on more of her heel and down. She got the hang of down but still needs pressure to help her. We also worked on her extended sit and downs. She didn’t want to stay in place but after a couple of tries she slowly got the hang of it. We’re still working on her heel and having her feel more comfortable walking and sitting close to me. We walked along a wall to try and push her closer to me. She would back away and jump up but soon didn’t mind as much. Overall, Harley is getting the hang of it and is being a hood girl! She is eating all of her food!

Harley went to petco today to work on all of her commands. She was a little overly excited at all the smells and other dogs. She did try to pull me a couple of times. She would get frustrated at times and would try and spin in her leash to get to the other dogs. We also worked on her down today some more. She didn’t mind going into a down position but it still takes leash pressure. Her sit has gotten a lot better and her durations have been improving. She still gets up whenever she gets nervous but I put her in a sit and we try again. Overall, Harley is being such a good girl! She ate all of her food.

Harley worked on all of her commands this morning at Little Lake Park! She was really excited and had the zoomies so before we started training we went in a long walk. At the park, we worked in her heel and duration sit and down. She didn’t want to hold her down and still needs guidance. She was really overwhelmed at the amount of free roaming ducks and birds. She was trying her hardest to listen but would sometimes zone out and try and run towards them. We also practiced her come to sit at the park. She is getting the hang of it and doesn’t need much leash guidance. We also worked on some commands in my home such as her door and food manners. Working on her door manners she tried to get up a couple of times to head out the door but after a couple of retries she did a lot better. She also had some play time with my chihuahua. Harley loved staring at her and sniffing her. They both exchanged little kisses before relaxing on my floor. I have also been applying some cream to her leg. She seems to be kicking at it often. She ate all of her food and enjoyed a bully stick before bed. Overall, she did a really good job!

Harley went to Cheviot Hills Park to work on all of her commands around dog distractions. She did really well ignoring the other dogs but at times would lose focus and zone out staring at them. She did struggle a bit with her heel, she was really interested in all the people riding their bikes and all of the off leash dogs. We also worked on her sit, she still tends to scoot back a little whenever given the command. We also worked on her come to sit. She doesn’t sit as far away as she used to but still isn’t super close to me. She has gotten more comfortable being around me and is really excited to see me in the morning. We also worked on her down today. She struggled getting into the down position at the park and would just hover over the ground. At some point she didn’t want to do it at all so she would just push back up against me. Harley is getting a lot better with her extended sit. I was actually able to get a good distance away from her before she got up. We would reset and try again and she always did better after a couple of tries. We ended the day working on more of her down in my home as well as her come to sit. She ate all of her breakfast and dinner and enjoyed a bully stick before bed. She is such a good girl and is progressing everyday.

Harley went to Home Depot to work on all of her commands around other trainers and their pups. She wasn’t as anxious today with all of the loud noises. We worked on her loose leash heel as well as her extended sit. She is getting so much better at sitting in one place and hardly gets up now. We also tried to work on her down, she did amazing the first couple of times but was not really interested in going in a down position. I tried to coax her with treats and that seemed to work but she quickly lost interest and would just stare at other things. She is getting a lot better with her come to sit and doesn’t sit too far away from me as she used to. She is making a lot of progress. We also went for a walk in between the rain and worked the rest of the day in my home! She is such a good girl!

Harley and I went for a walk this morning working more on her off leash skills. I held the end of a long leash and just walked up and down a basketball court. We went to a tennis courts and an enclosed dodge ball court but they were gated and locked. She is getting a lot better but still tends to resist if she gets uncomfortable. We spent the rest of the day working on her down in my home. I lured her down with treats and that seemed to work a bit before she got antsy and started digging at my hands. We worked on this command majority of the day. She is slowly getting the hang of it but is still reliant on the treats. She can hold her down for a couple of seconds before she gets up into a sit or tries to give me her paw. She is slowly improving each day! Harley also had some play time with me once the rain slowed down, she had the zoomies again and was running around in the puddles. She enjoyed a couple of treats before eating her dinner. She is a good girl.

Harley went to Santa Monica Promenade to work on all of her commands! She was a little anxious when we first got there and it did take her a bit to calm down. We worked on her loose leash heel which she did perfectly! We also worked on her durations, if there were other dogs she would get distracted and try to get up if they walked too close. We also worked on her down today and she did such a great job! She was able to down and hold it for over two minutes! She would normally get up. Harley ate all of her food today and enjoyed some treats before bed. She is such a good girl!

Harley went to Citadel Outlets today to work on all of her commands! We also worked on her greeting manners. She did try yo get up a couple of times but after a while she sat and waited patiently. We did have a bit of trouble with her load up today. She didn’t want to get in the car after we went to Citadel and refused to get in. She would push against the car or try to spin in her leash! Overall, she did a great job. She can’t wait to show you all that she’s learned! She ate all of her breakfast and dinner and enjoyed a bully stick before bed.
