Meet Gnochhi! Gnochhi is a 4 month old Maltipoo from Costa Mesa, CA! She’s joining us for our Three Week Puppy Board and Train Program! Watch out for her 21 day transformation!
Gnochhi and I spent the day getting to know each other. She is a really shy and nervous girl. We went to a local park to have our first lesson. She wasn’t used to any pressure on her neck and would cry out with any little tug. We worked on getting her familiar with the leash but she seemed really anxious and spooked by it. I tried introducing ‘heel’ to her but she would refuse to walk and would cry. Instead, we worked on ‘sit’ while getting to know each other. She didn’t understand what I wanted her to do in the beginning but was able to get the hang of it after a couple of reps. She seemed happy to be near me but was still really skeptical and would try and avoid me if she could. Gnocchi did have a potty accident when coming out of the kennel once we got home. Gnochhi settled nicely in her kennel. She did cry for about 5 minutes but then relaxed and took a nap. She ate half of her food and enjoyed a treat before bed! She is being a good girl so far!
Gnochhi did an amazing job today at The Citadel Outlets. She was a bit overwhelmed with the amount of people and dogs that were there. She wanted to walk up to everyone and eat everything off the ground. We worked on her ‘sit’ command and she picked it up quickly. We also introduced ‘down’! It was a little difficult for her to hold her down in the beginning but she slowly got the hang of it. She was still a little restless but was doing better as we worked. Gnochhi did have a potty accident today in my car but not in her kennel at home. She is going out on more potty breaks throughout the day! Overall, she is a good girl!
Gnochhi went to Petsmart today to work on her ‘sit’ and ‘down’ command! She is doing so much better with her ‘sit’! She doesn’t need as much pressure when going in a sit! She has improved with her ‘down’ and will hold it for a few seconds before getting up. We’re working on having her hold ‘sit’ and ‘down’ for a lot longer. She was really interested in all of the items in the store and all of the people as well. We did pass by a couple of dogs and Gnochhi did get a bit excited and started to whine. She is gaining a bit more confidence and was even able to jump up on a couple of food bags. At first, she didn’t like the feeling of the material or the noise it made. After jumping up and down a couple of times she did it no problem!! Gnochhi didn’t have an accident in my car or at home. She’s been going out every hour! She learning her commands quickly.
