Gigi, a five month old Labrador Retriever, has joined OffLeash SoCal for our Two Week Board and Train program. Gigi comes to us with typical puppy behavior: lack of following commands, leash pulling, jumping to greet, play biting, digging, etc. Over the two weeks she will be working on her off leash obedience and manners. Check in to see her progress!

Gigi did well on the ride home. She didn’t cry once in the crate. She has settled in well at my home. Gigi is having a blast with all her new doggie friends. She has been running around and playing nonstop since she has been here.

Today Gigi and I went to the park to work on her commands. I introduced and conditioned her to the ecollar. We practiced command: Sit, Down, Place, and Come. Place is a command where Gigi must sit or lay on a defined object. This command is great for building confidence as well as teaching her to be relaxed and calm. Gigi is a smart girl And learned quickly. She did a great job on her first day of training!

Today Gigi and I worked on her obedience around the neighborhood. She is doing very well with all her commands. We worked on her distance and duration. I noticed she had diarrhea this morning. Not sure if it’s from the treats or from the heat, but I gave her rice to soak up what’s bothering her tummy and added anti-diarrhea liquid. I will keep an eye on it and see how she feels tomorrow.

Today Gigi and I practiced her obedience commands at home. I used her friends as distractions while we practiced. It was hard for her to focus in the beginning. She wanted to join in on the fun with her friend, but I made her follow through with her commands. After A little while Gigi started ignoring them and focused on me. Once training was over, I let let her join her buddies to play. Her tummy seems to be feeling a little better. Her stool isn’t all the way back to normal, but is more solid than yesterday.

Today Gigi and I went to the park to work on her commands. She practiced all her commands semi-off leash! I let her drag the leash around while we practiced. She did very well. We need to tighten up a few of her commands, then she will be ready to start working completely off leash.
