Florence | Old English Sheepdog | Bell, CA | In-Training

Meet Florence! Florence is a 9 month old Old English Sheep Dog from Bell, CA and she is joining us for our Two Week Board and Train Program. Florence loves to greet new people but tends to jump up at them. She also pulls heavily on leash and needs help with her basic obedience. Florence needs help with her manners at home and help focusing around distractions. Overall, she is such a sweet girl who is ready to learn! Check out her 14 day transformation.

Florence and I went to a local park to get to know each other and work on her first lesson together. Florence doesn’t like a lot of leash pressure so any time I would guide her in any direction she would try and bite the leash or roll on the floor to try and get out of it. Since Florence was being walked on a harness it is going to take a bit of time for her to get used to the feeling of leash pressure. Florence did great overall and was getting the hang of walking with a collar. We worked on her ‘heel’ and even introduced ‘come to sit’. She adjusted to the e-collar really well and was able to pick up some of the commands quickly! Once we got home she ate some of her dinner and settled nicely in her kennel.

Florence and I spent time working on her 'heel'. She was a little nervous this morning but was able to warm up to being around me today. We spent the majority of our morning enjoying some play time. We went to a local park today where she was able to run around and let go of some of the energy she had. She did get a bit dirty since there was some mud at the park. We worked on leash pressure and she did really well today. She did try to rush out of my door but we worked on being calm before we began working. She still needs a lot of work on her 'come to sit' but she is slowly getting better. She grazed at her food and she hasn't shown any signs of reactivity towards her food bowl with me. Overall, she did a great job.

Florence and I went to a local park to work on building her confidence. Florence is doing a lot better with leash pressure and is ‘heeling’ a lot better. Florence and I worked on her ‘come to sit’ and she did amazing. She still needs to work on the correct positioning but she is getting the hang of it. We ended our training session by introducing ‘place’. She was also able to jump into my car today! She is being such a good girl!

Florence and I spent some time working around other pups and their trainers. She had a really hard time doing her commands in the beginning since she wanted to go up to everyone and every dog and say hello. After a couple of minutes she seemed to mellow out. She still takes any opportunity she can to say hello to people so we’re working on her being more neutral around others. She is a quick learner so she was able to ‘heel’ really well today. She did struggle a bit with her ‘come to sit’ but that was likely due to all of the dogs we were around. Overall, Ginger is such a sweet girl!

Florence and I worked on all of her commands in my home today. We even worked on some of her home manners. Florence is struggling a bit with down and gets a bit frustrated with any leash pressure. She is being a good girl overall and was able to have a lot of play time today! She is eating majority of her food but will graze at it sometimes. Florence is such a smart girl and is learning quickly.

Florence and I went to Petsmart where she was able to work on all of her commands. She did struggle in the beginning with all of the people. She would get excited and wanted to greet everyone. After a couple of minutes she seemed to do a lot better. Florence is still struggling with her ‘down’. She refuses to go in a ‘down’ position and will just stay stiff and planted. We’re going to work on it some more in my home. Florence is doing a lot better with her ‘heel’ but tends to walk behind me at times. Overall, Florence is such a good girl and is improving everyday.

Florence and I worked on all of her commands today. She still struggles with her ‘down’ especially in public areas. Florence worked on her ‘heel’ with the leash dragging and she did great! She did try to veer off a couple of times and it was able to stick by me as we worked on it more. Overall, Florence is doing amazing! She ended her day with some play time before bed.

Florence and I worked on all of her commands today. We worked on heeling with the leash dragging but she seemed to be a little overwhelmed. She tried to chase after a couple of cats and found it really hard to concentrate on her commands. We’re going to work on getting Florence more comfortable heeling around distractions such as cats. We worked on door manners and food manners today and Florence did a great job. I went ahead and added some canned food to her food today to promote her to eat more.

Florence and I went to Legg Lake today to work on all of her commands. She is getting a lot better at heeling without any leash pressure but will at times veer off ahead of me or walk too far behind. She is doing amazing with her down and was able to do it today with minimal guidance. Overall, Florence is doing great!

Florence and I went to Home Depot to work on her leash dragging heel. She is doing such a great job but will at times try and walk ahead of me if she sees something she wants to go do. She is also doing a lot better with her down and is able to hold it pretty well! She was so patient today when people passed her and didn’t make an effort to get up. She did get excited so she was trying really hard to stay in all of her commands. She ended her day with some treats and okay time with her bestie, Mia! I’m adding more canned food to her kibble to promote her to eat more!

Florence and I worked on all of her commands at Lowe’s today! She is getting better with her OffLeash commands. Was able to stay by me the whole time. She is such a smart girl but did get spooked by the shopping carts. Florence ignored children and people as they passed her but she did get really excited to see everyone. Florence is doing a lot better with her come to sit and was able to sit in the correct position today! Overall, she is such a good girl. I'm leaving her kibble in her kennel tonight to promote her to eat. I also added canned food to her kibble.

Florence and I worked on all of her commands off leash inside of Petsmart. She did such a great job but was a little overwhelmed in the beginning. It does take her some time to get adjusted to a new environment before we can work. Florence did great holding all of her commands even when other people and dogs passed her. Florence enjoyed some play time before bed! I went ahead and added more canned food to her kibble. I left her kibble in her kennel overnight since she seemed to finish the rest of her food from yesterday.
