Meet Finn! An five month old Irish Setter from Beverly Hills Ca! Finn is here attending our three week Puppy Board and Train Program. Finn is a goofy pup that's loving and playful along with the cutest face! Although Finn is loving and playful, he does get out of hand at times and play bites a lot, when his parents are just trying to pet him. Finn also has a bad habit of counter surfing and gnawing on random stuff on the ground. Over the next three weeks Finn and I will be working on generalzing all of his obedience commands on leash, along with daily manners in and out of the house! Along with obedience and manners Finn and I will also be working on desensitization to all different types of environments and settings! Last but not least Finn and I will be working on potty training daily! Tune in daily to see Finn's progress!

Today Finn and I went to a local park in the City of Orange to meet up with my friends and their pups! Today we worked on showing Finn and a new command which was the “down” command, Finn did a great job at picking up the new command. He was even able to hold it for more than three minutes at a time! Along with showing the new command,Finn and I worked on our “heel” and “sit” command as well! Finn did a great job today on obedience, along with having a great time hanging around other dogs!

Today Finn and I worked on our door manners at home! We worked on opening the door in front of him and having him hold his composure and not bolting out of the door whenever it opens. Along with holding his sit and down positions in front of the doorways. Overall Finn is doing a good job, just at times he is still struggling with the down command. He understands the leash pressure for the command, but at times he does get stubborn and tries to fight the pressure. Whenever he does that, I just take my time showing him the pressure, then he will slowly starts to follow through. It’s just showing him the first couple of corrections for him to understand. Overall Finn is a smart pup and is learning commands fairly quickly!

Today we focused on all of his commands heel, sit, down, place , and the come command as well. The come command is new the Finn and he is still picking it up. The come command directs Finn to recall to us to our right side and loop around to our left heel side and sit, all in one motion. Today Finn and I met up with the OffLeash Socal team at a local park in Whittier Ca, to get some training alongside each other! Today Finn and I focused on all of our obedience commands around dogs he’s not familiar with! I’m not looking for Finn to make friends and get super excited every time he sees another dog, all I’m looking for is Finn to hangout and coexist around other dogs along with holding his composure! Which Finn did an amazing job on! I’m proud of Finn and Will continue to work on sharpening up our obedience commands and make sure he has a clear understanding of the commands I'm asking of him to perform!

Today Finn and I went to the local Santa Anita Mall to get some training in. Today we focused on teaching Finn the “place” command on another object! At first, Finn was hesitant about jumping on the platform to place. After me physically helping him up, he needed to see me do it. After he had seen me jump up on there with him, he started the build up the courage to jump up as well! Sometimes our pup just needs to see us do it, before building up the courage to do so themselves! Other than that, Finn is doing a great job at all of his commands!

Today Finn and I focused on all of our obedience commands around distractions on my driveway! There were lots of noisy cars passing by, and Finn did a great job on working and responding to the commands I was giving him! Today I did noticed Finn needed extra help on his down and holding his duration command, as soon as he would try to get up, I would close the space in between up quickly and utilize leash pressure to help him back down. Overall Finn did great on everything expect holding down positions at first. After a couple corrections, he was able to pick things up!

Today during our afternoon session Finn and I worked on holding positions along with adding distance in between us! Finn did a great job at holding positions 10-15 feet away from me, so I started to add distractions by putting Kisa next to him to see if he would break, but he still was able to hold his composure next to another pup! Today Finn and I went to our local Lowes in San Dimas Ca, to get some training alongside distractions from people shopping around. Today we took the prong off and tested how he would be with just the slip collar. I noticed the prong collar can be a bit too much and I wanted to see how he would work with a different type of leash pressure. Finn did a great job at responding to just the slip collar at times I did have to show him pressure until he followed through with the commands I was asking of him, other than that Finn is a tremendous Pup!
