Emma, a five year old Labrador Mix, has joined OffLeash SoCal for our two week board and train program. Emma comes to us with lack of following commands when distracted, leash pulling, being under socialized with other dogs, and excessive barking. Over the two weeks Emma will be working on her off leash obedience and manners. Check in to see her progress!

Emma is settling in well at my home. She is

unsure about the rest of my pack. She is doing

okay being around them, but keeps her

distance. She only snapped once at one of the

dogs when they came too close to her, but

nothing else since. It will take some time for her

to get comfortable around them. Today Emma started her training. We met with a few Offleash SoCal trainers, and they got

to assist with Emma and her training. We

introduced and conditioned her to the E-Collar

and practiced commands Sit and Heel. Emma

did great for her first day of training!

Happy Valentine’s Day! Today Emma and I worked on her commands around the neighborhood. We practiced come to sit, place, and heel. Place is a command where Emma must sit or lay on a defined object. This command is great for building confifence as well as teaching her be calm and relaxed. Emma is getting more comfortable with the other dog. She allowed them to come up and smell her.

Today Emma and I went to the park to work on her commands. We worked on a new command, Down. This is not her favorite command to do. I had to bribe her with some treats in order for her to lay down. Emma showed some big progress today, with the other dogs. I saw her finally playing and socializing with them, but once Emma saw

me she pretended like she wasn’t having fun.

Today Emma and I went down to Huntington Beach to work on her commands around distractions. She did very well! She wasn’t reactive to other dogs that past by us. She was very focused and obedient. Emma did better with the Down command today, but still gave me a little struggle.

Today Emma and I worked on her obedience at home. We did a little group training with her buddies, Archie and Loki. We worked on all the obedience commands, duration (holding commands longer), and with dog distractions. Emma did pretty well, she broke her commands a few times to try and be with her friends.

Today Emma and I went to Hollywood to work on her commands around high distractions. It was a lot of commotion for her and she was a bit nervous. Emma still followed all her commands. She didn‘t show me any reactivity to the buses. Sorry about the videos not showing on the blog. Please click the link and it will pull up videos for you.

Today Emma and I went to the park to work on her commands. We tried working semi-off leash (letting the leash drag) but she’s not quite ready for that yet. We worked a lot on her duration, holding commands longer. Emma will hold a command for a little bit, but breaks when she doesn’t want to listen anymore.

Today Emma and I went to a local school playground to work on her commands. Today she started working semi-off leash. I let her drag the leash around while we practiced her commands. She did pretty well. We need still need some more work on her duration, she still wants to get to follow me if I get too far from her.

Emma’s first day completely off leash! I took Emma to the park to work on her off leash obedience. We met with a few other OffLeash SoCal trainers, so Emma got to work around dog distractions. She did a great job! She ignored the other dogs, stayed focused on me, and was very obedient.

Today Emma and I met with other OffLeash SoCal trainers and their dogs to work on her off leash obedience around dog distractions. She did an awesome job! She was focused and very obedient. She wasn’t reactive and didn’t break command to say hi to the other dogs. She was a little nervous of some construction going on and the loud trucks that would drive by, but she stayed focused and followed her commands.
