Doc and I spent the day getting to know each other. He was really shy with me once I got him out of the car but seemed to warm up to me quickly. After he seemed a bit more comfortable with me I slowly introduced him to the e-collar! He did a great job and picked up on it quickly. We then introduced our first command which was ‘come to sit’. He did struggle with coming around my back so he would sit on my left side but he slowly started to get it the more we worked on it. We ended our lesson by introducing ‘heel’. Once we got home, Doc was able to explore my home before dinner. He seemed very skeptical and spooked easily when he was in my home. He ended his night with a treat before bed. Â

Doc and I spent some time working on his ‘heel’ today. He was really overwhelmed by everything at the park and it took him a while to get used to everything. After a couple of minutes he was able to ‘heel’ but would still pull me or spin in his leash. He had a hard time adjusting to a lot of distractions around him. He didn’t like the ducks and would try and run and hide from them or would just spin in circles before hiding behind me. This also happened when he heard loud cars. Doc didn’t like walking near other dogs and would panic and try to hide if we got too close to them. He was really interested in people but would shy away if they approached him. Overall, Doc tried his hardest and is being a good boy! He got a treat before bed!Â

Doc and I spent the day working on his ‘heel’. Doc had a really hard time working around my neighborhood since he would spook easily. He was really nervous when people would come out of their homes unexpectedly. He would try to rush ahead of me or spin in his leash. We’re getting a lot of progress done with his ‘heel’ and he doesn’t pull as much as he did before. He only pulls when he gets spooked. We tried to work on ‘come to sit’ but Doc was a bit overwhelmed at times to focus. We’re taking training slow with Doc and letting him get used to his new surroundings. Overall, he is such a good boy!Â

Doc and I worked on his ‘heel’ and his ‘come to sit’. Doc showed major signs of improvement today! He was a little spooked by some cars that passed and some people working on their car but he didn’t try to spin in his leash. He did try to hide behind me or walk ahead of me. He would at times try to avoid walking by the people working on their cars. Doc is also doing a lot better with his ‘come to sit’ but still needs a lot of leash direction. We also introduced ‘down’ today and he was able to hold it for about 10 seconds today! Doc is still very hesitant and even piddled a bit when someone tried to say hello to him. Doc’s personality is also coming out and he is being really playful with me. He is such a sweet boy and is slowly learning!Â

Doc and I went to Petsmart where we tried introducing Doc to bigger distractions. He was really overwhelmed in the parking lot and would try and hurry ahead of me or hide in between my legs. Once we started training inside Petsmart he seemed a bit overwhelmed. We took a step back and worked on all of his commands towards the back of the store and that seemed to help a little. He would still spook easily because of all the noises and the intercom. He is doing a lot better with his ‘heel’ and his ‘come to sit’ but we’re working on his ‘down’. He isn’t able to hold his ‘sit’ or ‘down’ for very long since he tends to get nervous and walk over to me. He did try to spin in his leash a couple of times especially when we walked by people or dogs. He didn’t want to be near them. Overall, Doc is doing a lot better.Â

Doc worked on all of his commands at Fashion Island today! When we first got there he was a little nervous but didn’t try to rush off or spin in his leash. We met up with other trainers and their pups so it did take Doc some time to get used to being around them. After some time Doc was able to relax and work on his commands! He did such a great job and was so happy to be working around other dogs. He has a lot more confidence and that really showed today when we worked on ‘place’. He was able to jump up on different objects and even said hello to a couple of the trainers without shying away. Doc is showing major improvement and is being such a good boy! We’re starting to work on his extended commands and teaching him to hold his ‘sit’ and ‘down’ for longer periods of time.Â

Doc went to Heritage Park to work on all of his commands with another trainer and their pups. It does take Doc some time to get used to a new area before he is completely relaxed. He still has a lot of trouble in parking lots and at times will spook going near them. Doc did such a great job today and is slowly learning! He does need more work on his ‘come to sit’ to help with positioning. Overall, Doc is a good boy and is doing a great job! Â

Doc and I went to Wilderness Park to work on all of his commands. He does a lot better around other people and ducks but will try to avoid walking in larger crowds. He still spooks with the ducks and is very unsure of them. Doc is doing so much better and is ‘heeling’ really well but when he does get anxious he will try and go in front of me and cut me off. Overall, Doc has gained so much more confidence and is being such a good boy.Â

Doc and I went to Petsmart today to work on all of his commands around dog distractions. He did such a great job but was a bit overwhelmed in the beginning. Doc has become more curious and has gained a lot of confidence. We’re still working on his ‘extended down’ since he tends to get up if he’s be in a down for more than a minute. Doc does get up if he’s feeling uncomfortable and will walk over towards me. Overall, Doc is doing a lot better and is improving on his ‘come to sit’. Doc ended his day by enjoying some play time with his new favorite toy which was a stuffed horse. He was able to work on his home manners as well as lounge and eat some treats. He is such a good boy!Â

Doc and I went to Pathfinder Park to work on all of his commands. We were able to work on his commands off leash. Doc does really well if the environment is controlled and there aren’t any barking dogs. He doesn’t do well if the environment is crowded or loud. Doc did well off leash until a puppy started barking then he just wanted to sit next to me and didn’t want to continue working on his commands. We went ahead and worked on leash again in a quieter area and Doc did great. Doc has reliable off leash skills in a controlled environment but really struggles else where. Overall, Doc is doing such an amazing job and is improving every day. We worked on his ‘greeting manners’ today and he did amazing. Doc has been shaking his head a bit but his ears are clean and don’t have a weird odor. I’m making sure to monitor them to make sure they’re fine.Â

Doc and I spent our time working at a local park where he was able to work with a dragging leash around other dogs. He was really interested in them today and wanted to play with them. There were a couple of times when it was a bit hard to get his attention back. Doc enjoyed running around the park and chasing me. He was able to get into commands quickly and had so much fun playing in the grass. Doc is such a good boy and even practiced place on a stump! Overall, he is such a good boy!Â

Doc and I went to Huntington Beach today where he was able to work on all of his commands. He did such a great job around all of the bikes and dogs. He did get a bit nervous but didn’t break any of his commands. Doc worked on his ‘greeting manners’ today and has gotten a lot more confident when greeting people. Overall, Doc is such a good boy and enjoyed a couple of treats before bed!

Doc and I spent the day working all of his manners in my home! He is doing such a great job! We went to a local park where Doc was able to run around and play in the grass. We also worked on his ‘place’ at the play ground. Doc has gained so much confidence and isn’t as spooked by cars anymore. He will try to walk ahead of me at times but won’t rush behind me like he used to. Here’s a small sneak peak at Docs final video we filmed at Huntington Beach.Â
