Clover| Lab/Aussie Mix Dog Training | Long Beach, CA

Clover, a 6 month old Lab/Aussie Mix from Long Beach, CA. Clover took place in our Balanced Canine Training 2 Week Board & Train dog training program. Clover was trained by Balanced Canine Training SoCal trainer Oliver Dunn. See Clover's progression below.

Clover's Pupdates:

Meet Clover, a shy little gal with a sweet personality. She likes to beg, jump up on people excitedly, and mouth at hands. She's here for our two week board and train!

Clovers settling in well. She's very timid, and likes to follow me around. She ate all of her dinner, and we had a nice little walk around the block.

Practicing place. We introduced the collar today, and worked on come, sit, and place. She's very hesitant to down, so that's something we'll be working on tomorrow!

Enjoying playtime after a trip to the park for training! She's starting to come out of her shell a little. Last night she woke me up at 3am to let her out to potty. Right as I opened the door to let her outside she started to pee. I consider it progress though, as she's alerting me when she has to potty now instead of automatically going wherever.

We made good progress with heel and sit today, and she's starting to get the hang of place. Tomorrow I want to work with her placing in public, to help build her confidence in different surroundings.

It's never a dull moment with this gal!

Today we worked on sit, down and food refusal, along with heel when we went on our walks. She's very excited around food, and struggled to hold commands near it, but by the end of our training session I could drop kibble in front of her and she'd stay sitting.

Tomorrow we're going to focus on down, and place a lot. Down is something she really struggles with still.

We made some good progress with down today! She doesn't need leash pressure at all anymore to guide her down.

She's very shy, and reluctant to down when there are noises around that she doesn't recognize. On our walk tonight, we practiced heeling off leash, and downing in different places. We also worked on place while I ate dinner tonight. She has a hard time staying in place when food is nearby, but with consistency, she's starting to get it.

We had a nice outing at the Home Depot today! She was definitely nervous being around all the strange noises, but we powered through it and I'm very proud of her.

Practicing waiting patiently for food. She LOVES to beg, so we've been practicing sitting and waiting to be released to eat.

Last day at camp, Clovers doing great! Today we went to a shopping center and practiced all of our commands with distractions. After we got home, her and my pup had a nice time chasing a ball around my backyard.
