Catahoula | Catahoula Leopard Dog | Arcadia, CA | In-Training
Catahoula, a one year old Catahoula Leopard Dog, has joined OffLeash SoCal for our Two Week Board and Train program. Catahoula comes to us knowing commands but not always following them, being easily distracted, jumping to greet, and not walking properly on leash. Over the two weeks Catahoula will be working on her off leash obedience and manners. Check in to see her progress!
Catahoula is settling in well at my home. She is getting along great with all her new doggie friends. She was a little nervous when first meeting them, but warmed up quickly and wanted to play.
Today Catahoula and I went to the park to work on her obedience commands. I introduced and conditioned her to the ecollar. We practiced commands Sit, Place, and Heel. Place is a command where Catahoula must sit or lay on a defined object. This command is great for confidence building, as well as teaching her to be calm and relaxed. She was a bit nervous at the park and distracted with her surroundings. Heel is still a work in progress, but Catahoula is was much better now at my side.
Today Catahoula and I went to the park to work on her commands. We practiced more of Sit, Heel, and Place. We also practiced Down and Come. She's a very smart girl and catches on to her commands quickly.
Today Catahoula and I worked on her obedience commands at home. We practiced all her commands. I used her friends as a distraction and let them play while we trained. It was a little hard for her to focus because she wanted to join in on the fun, but I made sure she followed with her commands. Once training was over she was able to go play and socialize with her buddies.
Today Catahoula and I went to the park to work on her obedience. We practiced a new command, Come to Heel. This command is a little tricky, but Catahoula is starting to get the hang of it. We met with other OffLeash Socal trainers and their dogs, so she had plenty of dog distractions to work around. She did very well and stayed focused on me and followed all her commands, even though she really wanted to say hi to the other dogs. Catahoula did a great job today.
Today Catahoula and I went to Lowes to work on her obedience around distractions. She was pretty nervous with all the noise and distractions around us. After some time of walking around and working on commands, she was able to relax and focus. Catahoula even practiced her commands semi-off leash. I let her drag the leash around while we trained.
Today Catahoula and her friend, Parker, went to The Shoppes in Chino Hills to work on her obedience around distractions. She did pretty well. She was focused and followed through with her commands. She only got distracted once, with a dog that was lunging and barking at her. Once we passed the dog, Catahoula went back to focusing on her commands.
Merry Christmas! Today Catahoula and I went to the park to work on her obedience. We practiced all her commands semi-off leash. We worked on her distance and duration.
Today Catahoula and her buddy, Parker, went to the mall to work on their obedience around distractions. It was pretty busy there. Catahoula was a little nervous when we first arrived, but as we walked around she was able relax and focus on her commands.
Today Catahoula and I went to a local shopping center to work on her obedience around distractions. She did a great job. She was focused and followed all of her obedience commands. She received a few compliments on how well behaved she is.
Today Catahoula and I went to The Hollywood Walk of Fame to work on her obedience around high distractions. I am so proud of her! She did such a great job, working completely off leash. She was definitely nervous with all the commotion going on around us, but she stayed focused and obeyed all her commands. She had a lot of admirers watch her train. They complimented Catahoula on her off leash obedience.
Today Catahoula joined me on a shopping spree at The Citadel Outlet. She practiced her off leash obedience around many distractions. She did very well. She was focused and obedient.
Today Catahoula and I stayed home to work on her obedience commands out of the rain. We practiced all her commands. We also worked on her door manners and food manners.
Today Catahoula took the day off of training and spent the day playing and socializing with her friends before she goes home. Catahoula has done a great job with her training! She can't wait to go home tomorrow and show you everything she has learned!
