Canelo | Boxer | Long Beach, CA | In-Training
Meet Canelo! Canelo is a 10 month old Boxer from Long Beach, CA and he is joining us for our Two Week Board and Train Program! Canelo tends to pull heavily on leash and gets overly excited when out for walks. Canelo is easily distracted by other dogs and tends to jump up when greeting new people! Canelo knows his sit and down but needs help working on his obedience outside of his home! Overall, he is a sweet boy who is ready to learn. Watch out for his 14 day transformation.
Canelo and I spent time getting to know each other today! We worked on conditioning him to the e-collar and he did great. He wasn’t too sure what to do in the beginning once we started using the e-collar but after a couple of minutes of going through the commands he knew, such as sit, he was able to figure it out. We worked on introducing heel today and his come to sit command. He was a little overwhelmed in the beginning since we were around other trainers and their pups but he was able to work around them calmly. He was a bit anxious today so it did take him a bit to settle. Overall, he is doing such a great job.
Canelo and I spent time working on his heel and his come to sit today. He has a bit of anxiety so we worked on more bonding today! Canelo is doing really well with his heel but still tends to pull a bit when he’s excited. We’re also working on getting him better with not sticking his nose to the ground. When he does this he tends to pull back a bit to get to what he’s sniffing at. Overall, he is doing such a great job and is settling in nicely!
Canelo and I went to Veterans Park to work on his heel and his come to sit! He did a great job but was a little more interested in the other pups that were there with their trainers. He is doing a lot better with his come to sit and makes the effort on his own to come around my back and sit on my left side. We are slowly working on getting him to sit for longer periods of time since he’ll sit but reposition himself after a while or just stand up. We’re going to work on his duration with down as well since Canelo finds it hard to down where there are a lot of distractions. Overall, he did a great job today!
Canelo and I worked on all of his commands at home today! It was raining pretty heavily so we made sure to stay warm and dry as much as possible. Canelo and I focused on his manners in my home as well as down. He is having a hard time with his down and won’t down all the way or will pop back up quickly. We worked on his commands with durations. Canelo also had plenty of play time where he was able to roam my home and play with his toys! Overall, he did such a great job and we’re going to be working on his down some more tomorrow!
Canelo and I worked from home today since he had a really upset tummy. Canelo had to be let out frequently today since he did have a bit of runny stool. He didn’t eat his breakfast and nibbled at his dinner. He mainly ate the toppers. Canelo did drink plenty of water today and spent the day training in 30 minute increments. We worked on all of his commands but focused more on his down. He did struggle in the beginning with his down but he was able to do amazing and pick it up quickly! We’re adding durations to his down slowly since he does tend to want to follow me. Overall, Canelo was a good boy. I’m going to be adding a bit of pumpkin purée to his dinner to sooth his tummy and hopefully promote him to eat more. His upset tummy could be due to his anxiety since Canelo is constantly panting and drooling from nerves. I will keep you updated in his stool.
Canelo and I spent time working on all of his commands at a local park. We’re working on placing on different places with different textures. We’re increasing our durations with his sit and down and he seems to be doing great! Canelo does have runny stool today so I made sure to let him out more frequently. I did have to let him out every 10-15 minutes since his tummy wasn’t feeling well. I added pumpkin to his food but he seemed uninterested in his food. I’m adding some rice to soothe his tummy. He’s been drinking water but isn’t really interested in his kibble and will only eat the toppers. I did leave his food in his kennel overnight and he ate all of his food from. Overall, he is a good boy!
Canelo and I worked on all of his commands today at Petsmart. He did have a bit of runny stool today but the pumpkin purée is definitely helping him. He had an accident at Petsmart today but didn’t have any other accidents. He is doing great with all of his commands but does tend to lag behind me. He did amazing with all of the other dogs at the store and ignored them as they passed. He is such a good boy and is definitely improving! He ate all of his dinner from yesterday since I left it overnight in his kennel. He is still picking with his breakfast.
Canelo and I worked on all of his commands at Legg Lake Park with a very loose leash! He is doing such a great job and his tummy is feeling a lot better. He is eating his dinner overnight in his kennel but still refuses to eat his breakfast. I offer his breakfast throughout the day but he won’t eat it. Canelo is doing such a great job with his down but struggles with durations. He’ll get up and move closer to me if he’s feeling uncomfortable. Overall, he is a good boy and is learning quickly.
Canelo and I worked with a dragging leash today. He struggled with his heel since he tends to lag behind. He is doing great with all of his other commands but we’re focusing on not using any leash pressure. Canelo did eat all of his breakfast and dinner today and he seems to be feeling a lot better with his tummy. Overall, Canelo is doing great and we’re going to be focusing on doing all of his commands off leash!
Canelo and I spent the day working on all of his commands off leash. He still struggles a bit since he tends to lag behind but is slowly getting the hang of doing things with no leash pressure. He was able to play with my dog today, Mia and they played until they were both tired. Canelo did a really great job when he played and disengaged on his own. Overall, Canelo did a great job today!
Canelo and I went to Petsmart to work around dog and people distractions today. He did a great job working with no leash pressure but he does tend to walk really slowly next to me. At times he does veer off to the side but after a couple of corrections he’s able to come right back to my side. Canelo enjoyed some more okay time with his buddy, Mia, but he doesn’t seem too interest in playing. Canelo is able to hold his sit and down for longer than a minute. Overall, Canelo is doing amazing!
Canelo and I spent time working on all of his commands off leash today! He did amazing but still tends to lag behind me. Overall, Canelo was able to work off leash and do all of his commands around other dogs and their trainers. He had plenty of free time with his buddy, Mia. They ran around a big field and Canelo did a great job with his recall! We worked on his food manners today and he is doing amazing!
Canelo and I spent some time working on all of his manners today! We also went to StoneWood mall where Canelo was able to work OffLeash around distractions. He was still a little slow when he walked with me but did a great job overall! Canelo spent a lot of time roaming my home and working on his manners and hanging with Mia and his new little friend, Sombra.
Canelo and I went to Citadel Outlets to work on all of his commands. He did a great job with all of the people and dogs. He is such a good boy and enjoyed some free time at the park where he was able to run and play before he shows you all that’s he’s learned tomorrow. Canelo ended his day with some relaxing time in my home.
