Today was our first training together. I was able to assess Bruno’s baseline and get a feel for his personality. Today was mostly about building a bond and trust with him. It didn’t take long before we were having fun and beginning training. In training, Bruno was introduced to the commands Come to sit, Sit, Off, and Break. He did get distracted from time to time by other dogs, birds, and people, but we successfully worked through those distractions. A great first day of training!

One of today’s training sessions took place at the Citadel Outlets. We continued to focus on building trust as a team as well as the commands Come to sit, Sit, Extended sit, Place, and Heel. Bruno did well and is really starting to open up to me. I can see him letting go of his nervousness and beginning to trust me. Thus able to focus on training and have a fun time! There were a few times when he was reactive towards other dogs, but we worked through it and I helped him understand how he should react to other dogs. A great day of training!

One of today’s training sessions took place outside of my residence. We trained in an environment that constantly had people, dogs, and cars passing by. Bruno did well in training, though he was understandably interested in the constantly changing distractions. They served as great training aids. Another great day of training!

One of today’s training sessions took place at a park. This session was our first session attempting off-leash obedience. Bruno has been quite reactive towards other dogs, birds, and squirrels. Today he showed great composure giving me the confidence in him to try off-leash. He seemed to get very stiff and anxious when I removed the leash, but we were able to work through those barriers. I’m really proud of the progress we made today! Another great day of training!

One of today’s training sessions took place at a park. This session was completely off-leash once again but purposely training around reactivity triggers Bruno typically has had. One of today’s training sessions took place at a new park. We did a little more exploring then usual, to really challenge Bruno’s focus and engagement in training. Regardless of all the distractions, he performed well. He was a little reactive, but still did very well. I’m very proud of his daily progress. One of today’s training sessions took place at a new park. We continued working on Bruno’s commands and reactivity while completely off-leash. He did a great job not reacting but did get fixated on some of the birds and other dogs. We were able to break that fixation and continue on training. We also worked on his Car manners. Bruno has had a lack of confidence loading into my van due to the height. But I decreased the distance and increased the encouragement. With that, he has been able to load and gain confidence. The overall goal is to have him loading at high levels unassisted. Another great day of training!
