Meet Brisa! Brisa is a 3 year old Scottish Terrier Mix from Venice, CA! She is joining us for our Two Week Board and Train Program! Brisa is a very energetic happy girl who gets overly excited when greeting new people and loves to eat random objects off the ground. Brisa has some of her basic obedience down such as ‘sit’ and ‘down’ but can’t hold her commands for very long. Brisa also pulls heavily on leash when out for walks. Check out this sweet girls 14 day transformation!

Brisa and I spent the day getting to know each other. She was really unsure at first but was such a sweet girl. We had our first lesson where we worked on her ‘heel’ and ‘come to sit’ command. She was also introduced to the e-collar today. She did really well adjusting to everything and was even able to pick up a bit on the ‘come to sit’ command. She would at times struggle and refuse to move forward. She is such a good girl in the kennel and got adjusted quickly. She ate half of her dinner and enjoyed some play time before bed.

Brisa and I started our day by working on her ‘heel’ and her ‘come to sit’. She is a lot better at her heel than she was yesterday and has adjusted to the e-collar nicely. She did struggle with her ‘come to sit’ today and was trying to see how much she could get away with. She would stop in the middle of our walk, lay down and refuse to move or at times bite on the leash. She was really confused on what I was asking her to do but after a couple of minutes she was able to get it! We worked on her ‘come to sit’ and her ‘heel’ the rest of the day before I introduced a new command, ‘place’. She was really struggling with ‘place’ since she didn’t want to jump up on anything that was a bit high. Overall, Brisa did a great job today and ate all of her breakfast and dinner. She also enjoyed some play time where she was able to roam freely in my backyard and sniff everything.

Brisa and I worked on her ‘come to sit’ and ‘place’ today at a local park. She really struggles jumping up on anything since she is really short. She tried her hardest and even put her front paws up and did little hops. Brisa is getting a lot better at her ‘heel’ but struggles to stay in the correct position especially when walking by people. She did a great job today at the park and even laid next to me while we took a break in the shade. Brisa is doing great in her kennel and even enjoyed a treat before bed.

Brisa and I went to Hollydale Park to work on her ‘heel’ and her ‘come to sit’. She worked around other trainers and their pups today. She was a bit overwhelmed and it did take her a bit of time to focus on what I was asking her to do. While we worked on our ‘heel’ there were a couple of times when Brisa would have a bit of a stubborn streak. She would refuse to walk any further, would bite on the leash or try and rush to any patch of grass and wander on her own. After a couple of reps, she seemed to do a lot better. Brisa also has a hard time passing by grass since she wants to sniff and mark everything. She also wanted to sniff at the ground whenever we walked. We’re working on having her stay focused during our walks and not sniff until given her ‘break’ command. There were still some times when she would ‘heel’ perfectly fine next to me then the next moment she’d rush to the grass. Overall, her ‘heel’ has gotten a lot better and she is responding really well to the e-collar. Her ‘come to sit’ and ‘place’ are also coming along great. There are a couple of times when I need to remind Brisa to come all the way around my back when I ask her to ‘come’. Other times, Brisa will refuse to come when called until I ask her another time. We ended our training session by introducing ‘down’. It seemed like she knew what the command meant but didn’t want to ‘down’ unless I gave her a bit of leash pressure. Brisa did have a bit of an upset tummy today and had an accident in my car kennel. She ate all of her breakfast and dinner. I’m keeping a close eye on her stool and making sure she is drinking plenty of water.

Brisa and I went to a local park to work on all of her commands. She is doing really well with her ‘come to sit’ and her ‘down’ command! She is still having a hard time keeping her nose up, she likes to stick it to the ground when in a ‘heel’. She did do a lot better but was a bit stubborn and would try and bite her leash. We also worked on her ‘place’ and she was able to jump up on a bench! She didn’t want to jump on high surfaces before but today she gained a lot more confidence and was able to do it better. Overall, Brisa did such a great job and ate all of her breakfast and dinner.

Brisa and I went to Home Depot to work on all of her commands. She is doing such a great job with her ‘heel’ but will still pull me at times especially when getting to a new area. After a few minutes, she finally settles in the new environment and will do all of her commands really well. She has gotten better at her ‘come to sit’ and her ‘down’ and even did great with ‘place’. She doesn’t really mind other dogs but loves the attention from passing people. Brisa did a great job with all of the noises but did get a bit spooked at some knocking. Brisa also didn’t mind walking by passing dogs that would bark at her. Brisa has a lot more confidence than before as is doing an amazing job. Brisa has been having trouble with her food, she doesn’t eat all of it. In order to motivate her to eat I add small pieces of cheese. I will keep monitoring her food and making sure she eats more. Brisa also had a small scab on her nose today. More than likely it is from pushing her nose up against the kennel door. Overall, she is being such a good girl and even had lots of free time in my backyard when it was a bit cooler.

Brisa and I went to Petsmart where she was able to work on all of her commands around dog distractions. She was overly excited when we got to the store and wanted to pull me through the sliding doors. After a couple of minutes she was able to relax. She didn’t mind any of the dogs that passed us or the people but was really interested in all of the squeaking toys. Brisa is doing a great job and is even eating more of her food. She still needs a bit of help with her ‘place’ since it seems she can jump fairly high up but will pick and choose places she want to jump onto or not. Brisa also spent some time playing in some grass today! She is a good girl and is drinking plenty of water.

Brisa and I spent the day working on all of her commands today at Wilderness Park. We worked with a dragging leash and she did a great job but it did take her a bit to get used to the feeling of ‘no leash’. She did try and see what she could get away with more and would stop behind me we ‘heeled’ a couple of times. After a couple of minutes she seemed to understand that even if she doesn’t feel any tension she still needs to be next to me. She did great with all of her other commands. We made sure to work in small intervals since it was a bit hot today. She drank plenty of water and ate all of her food!

Brisa and I spent the day working on all of her commands in my home since it was a bit hot out today. She worked on all of her commands off leash and did great. She did get a bit distracted by some of the neighborhood cats and struggled to get her focus back. She even worked on her ‘greeting’ manners with a neighbor of mine. Brisa also enjoyed some free time in my home where she was able to lounge and play with some toys. Overall, Brisa did such a great job today and ate all of her breakfast and dinner.

Brisa and I worked on all of her commands off leash today. She is doing such a great job and is doing her commands really well. She does get a bit excited when we first get to a new environment so it does take her some time to adjust. She did awesome when other trainers and their pups were around her and she paid no mind to them. Brisa’s nose, as we mentioned before, is coming along great. She rubbed the scab off and now it’s a little pinkish from the healing. Brisa loves to push her nose into the kennel door when she sleeps or at times to see me when I pass by her kennel. She doesn’t push her nose into the kennel as much and has since stopped. Overall, Brisa is such a good girl and is eating all of her breakfast and dinner. I have attached a picture of the kennel door to give you an idea of what she presses her nose into.

Brisa and I went Tustin Park today to work outside of a dog park. She was really excited so it took her a while to get used to the sounds and other dogs. She was a little stubborn today but she did a great job. There were even off leash dogs at the park and she really didn’t pay them any attention. She is doing great with all of her off leash commands and is being a good girl. She ate all of her breakfast and dinner.

Brisa and I went to Lowe’s to work on all of her commands off leash. She is getting better at doing them all but will at times be a bit stubborn with her ‘down’. She’ll try to go in a half down and then immediately get up and start to crawl on the ground. She is doing amazing with her ‘heel’ and her ‘come to sit’. She did get a bit spooked by a worker who passed her with a forklift but recovered quickly. She was able to work on her ‘door’ manners as well today and she did amazingly well. Brisa ate all of her breakfast and dinner and drank plenty of water.

Brisa and I went to Downey Promenade where we worked on all of her commands off leash. She did such a great job ‘heeling’ around and passing different stores. She did want to go inside and was really curious at times but she did great with her commands nonetheless. Brisa is getting a lot better at her ‘place’ and even jumps up on surfaces that are a bit high. Overall, she did a great job today. We ended the day by going to a local park where she was able to roam freely and explore. She is really great with her ‘come’ command. We practiced playing and then getting into commands right after. It did take her a bit to catch on to it since she wanted to just sniff everything but she did great. She ate all of her breakfast and dinner and drank plenty of water.

Brisa and I went to Santa Monica Pier to work on all of her commands off leash! She did such a great job and did all of her commands perfectly. She was able to work alongside other trainers and their pups. Brisa also enjoyed some free time today at Santa Monica roaming around a grass area where she was able to cool down from the heat. It was really hot today and Brisa was getting tired so I carried her up the hill so she wouldn’t exhaust herself. She is such a sweet girl and loved the view from being carried. She ended her day with some much needed rest. She did eat a bit of her stool today when she was playing in my backyard. She hasn’t eaten any of her stool or anything foreign other than today. I’m still keeping a close eye on her. She ate all of her breakfast and dinner and drank plenty of water.

Brisa spent the day working on all of her commands off leash. She was able to play freely in the field and enjoy her last day with me. She is such a good girl and has learned so much. She did roll around in some mud today so she did get a bath. There is a clip of her final video we filmed while we were at Santa Monica as a sneak peek. We can’t wait to show you all that she’s learned.
