Meet Brighid! Brighid is a 15 month old Golden Retriever from Costa Mesa, CA. She’s joining us for our Two Week Board and Train Program. She is very loving, playful, and has tons of energy. Brighid is easily distracted, pulls on her leash, doesn’t always come when called, and isn’t alway consistent with her obedience. Stay tuned for her 14 day transformation!

Today was Brighid’s first session and it went really well! This was my first opportunity to work with her so I really made an effort to earn her trust. We did a lot of exploring the park together as well as introducing her to the Come to sit, Extended sit, and Heel commands. She did really well for her first session and I’m excited to see her progress throughout the program!

Today was Brighid’s second day of training. This session took place at a new park. During this session we continued to build a strong foundation in the Off, Break, Come to sit, Extended sit, and Heel commands. Impulse control was another big focus as well as was building confidence. Another great day of Training!

One of Brighid’s sessions focused on Door manners. It is important for her to understand the importance of Door manners and how rushing out the front door could be a major safety risk. During this session, I had her at an Extended sit working on her impulse control, focus, and obedience. She did very well staying in command. Another great day of training!

We continued to build an understanding and strong foundation in the Off, Break, Come to sit, Extended sit, Place, and Heel commands. Each command was done near areas where soccer and baseball practice were taking place. Brighid did very well staying engaged in training. She was very distracted by all the craziness going on around her, but we used that as a great training tool. Another great day of training!

We continued to build an understanding and strong foundation in the Off, Break, Come to sit, Extended sit, Place, and Heel commands. Brighid has a lot of energy and gets distracted easily. We incorporated a walk before training to help with her high energy levels. The walk really helped and she was much more calm during training. We will start to incorporate a nice walk before training to help her with her excess energy. Another great day of training!

Brighid is improving on her impulse control and focus in training. She did break command to chase a squirrel today. I used that experience as a great training tool to help her understand the importance of staying in command. Nonetheless, she did great and continues to grow daily. One of Brighid’s sessions took place at the Hollywood Walk of Fame. We continued to work on the Off, Break, Come to sit, Extended sit, Extended down, Heel, and Place commands. This was a highly active area with many distractions. Brighid had some trouble staying focused and engaged in training with so many distractions surrounding us. But we will continue to use environments like this to strengthen her obedience. Another great day of training!

Her impulse control and focus are improving, though she broke an Extended sit command once during training. Nonetheless, she did very well being in such a busy area with endless distractions. One of Brighid’s sessions took place at a park. We continued to work on the Off, Break, Come to sit, Extended sit, Extended down, Heel, and Place commands. This session was both on and off-leash. She struggled a little at the beginning staying focused with ducks around, but shortly after was able to overcome those distractions. Brighid did create a minor abrasion on her nose while in the crate between training. I have cleaned and put first aid ointment on it. I will continue to monitor and update on progress. This session was both on and off-leash. Brighid’s nose is healing well and I will continue to monitor the minor abrasion as it heals. We also worked on her Food, Door, Guest, and Car manners. Another great day of training!

One of Brighid’s sessions took place at a Home Depot. We continued to work on the Off, Break, Come to sit, Extended sit, Down, Extended down, Heel, and Place commands. This session was both on and off-leash. While working on our Guest manners, she did get a little anxious with some people. We continue to work through this and help her feel more comfortable when meeting new guest. Another great day of training!

One of Brighid’s sessions took place at my home. We continued to work on the Off, Break, Come to sit, Extended sit, Down, Extended down, Heel, and Place commands. This session focused more on Door manners. She did very well not breaking command and being patient. Another great day of training!

One of Brighid’s sessions took place at a new park. We sharpened up the Off, Break, Come to sit, Extended sit, Down, Extended down, Heel, and Place commands before she returns home tomorrow. She had a great session and I look forward to her family seeing her progress!
