Aspen, a one year old White Shepherd, has joined OffLeash SoCal for our Two Week Board and Train program. Aspen comes to us with lack of following commands, pulling on the leash while walking, leash reactivity to dogs and people, and excessive barking. Over the next two week Aspen will be working on his off leash obedience and manners. Check in to see his progress!

Aspen has settled in well at my home. He has been respectful to the rest of the pack since he has been here. Aspen wasnāt reactive and approached them politely. Heās just a little pushy and wants everyone to play with him. Aspen has made himself right at home.

Today Aspen and I went to the park to work on his obedience commands. I introduced and conditioned him to the ecollar. We practiced commands: Sit, Place, and Heel. Heel is still a work in progress, but Aspen is walking a lot better now. Place is a command where Aspen must sit or lay on a defined object. This command is great for building confidence as well as teaching him to be calm and relaxed. He did a great job on his first day of training!

Today Aspen and I worked on his training at home. We worked more on his Sit, Place, and Heel. We also practiced a new command, Down. Aspen was a little stubborn with this command. He is getting better with his focus on me, even with his friends running around us and playing. He is a smart boy and catches on quickly.

Today Aspen and I went to the park to work on his commands. We practiced two new commands: Come to Sit and Come to Heel. He learned two commands quickly. We need more work on his duration (holding commands longer). Aspen did a great job today!

Today Aspen and I went to Lowes to work on his obedience commands. We practiced his commands semi-off leash! I let him drag the leash around while we practiced. He did pretty well! We need to tighten up a few of his commands, before Aspen can start working completely off leash.

Today Aspen and I practiced his commands around the neighborhood. I let him drag the leash around again while we practiced. Aspen is doing very well! We just need more work on his concentration. He still gets distracted and breaks his focus on me.

Today Aspen and I went to The Block at Orange again to work on his off leash obedience. He did a great job around all the people distractions, but was a little timid around a gentleman that wanted to pet him. So we will practice some more with people greeting.

Today Aspen and I went to the park to work on his off leash obedience. We worked a lot on his distance and duration. Aspen assisted me with one of my lessons today. I used him as a distraction for a rambunctious puppy that was learning to work around distractions.
