Alfie, one year old Goldendoodle, has joined OffLeash SoCal for our Two Week Board and Train program. Alfie comes to us knowing his commands but not always following them, being easily distracted, leash pulling, nipping, and jumping. Over the two weeks Alfie will be working on his off leash obedience and manners. Check in to see his progress!

Alfie has settled in well at my home. He is having a blast with all his new doggie friends. He has been running around and playing nonstop since he has been here.

Today Alfie and I went to the park to work on his obedience. We practiced commands Sit, Place, and Heel. Place is a command where Alfie must sit or lay on a defined object. This command is great for building confidence as well as teaching him to be calm and relaxed. He did very well, I know he knows most of his commands already. We just need to work on his focus and duration more.

Today Alfie and I went to the park to work on his obedience. We met other OffLeash SoCal trainers and their pup, so Alfie got to work around lots of dog distractions. He did pretty well. He was definitely interested and distracted by the dogs in the beginning. As we practiced his commands, Alfie was able to ignore the distractions and focus on me.

Today Alfie and I went to the park to work on his commands. We worked a lot on his duration (holding commands longer) and distance (being able to walk farther away from him). He learned a new command, Come to Heel. This command is a little tricky, but Alfie got the hang of it.

Today Alfie and I worked on his obedience commands around the neighborhood. His first day practicing his commands semi-off leash! I didnā€™t have to hold the leash. I let him drag it around while we practiced. Alfie did very well! We just need to tighten up his commands and he will be ready to start working completely off leash!

Today Alfie and his buddy, Stanley, went to Fashion Island to work on their off leash obedience together. It was their first time training together, so it wasnā€™t perfect but they ended up figuring it out.

Today Alfie and Stanley joined me on a shopping spree at The Block at Orange. Alfie practiced his off leash obedience around all the people distractions. He did great, even with two little dogs barking and lunging at him. Alfie stayed focused and followed his commands.

Today Alfie and I worked on his obedience at home. I tried to have Alfieā€™s friends be a distraction for him, but instead they wanted to join in on the training. We also worked on his door manners and food manners.

Today Alfie took the day off of training and spent the day socializing and playing with his friends before he leaves. I gave him a bath so he could be clean when he goes home, but he didnā€™t stay clean for long. Alfie canā€™t wait to go home and show you everything he has learned!
