Shadow, a Pit Bull/Mastiff/Shepherd from Los Angeles, CA went through the Balanced Canine Training SoCal Board & Train dog training program. Shadow was trained by dog trainer Amanda Lascari in La Habra Heights, CA.
Shadow, a 9 month old Mastiff/Pit Bull/Shepherd, has joined Offleash Socal for our 2 week board and train program. Shadow is a very sweet and friendly girl who loves people but likes to jump up to greet people. Shes pulls when going for a walk and doesn’t always listen to commands. Over the next 2 weeks, shadow will be working on her offleash obedience and manners. Check in to see her progress!

Today I took shadow to the park to work on commands. We practiced more on come to sit and started working on her loose leash walking.

Today I took shadow to a local elementary schoolyard to practice commands. We worked a lot on the loose leash walking today. Shadow is a stubborn girl who doesn't like being told what to do. When she didn't want to do what I asked her, she would just plop down on the floor and not move. It was pretty funny, but I didn't let her win. I out stubborned her and made her follow through with the commands I asked her to do. The loose leash heeling is a lot better now. Still a work in progress, but now she is understanding that I want her to walk beside me.

Today Shadow learned 2 new commands: place and down. Place is a defined object (other than the floor) that the dog must sit or lie down on. Place is great for teaching a dog to just stay put and to relax, as well as building confidence. Shadow did pretty well with the place command and caught on quick. Down was a little bit tougher, but she finally started to understand what I was asking of her.

Today I took Shadow to the park to work on commands. We practiced come to sit, place, and down. She is doing a great job with her training, but still wants to be stubborn and not listen sometimes. She is doing awesome with the heel command, no more pulling on the leash when we walk.

Shadow has officially been unleashed! Today we worked on her off leash heel. She did a great job. We just need to fine tune a few things. She runs ahead for a second but once I correct her, she comes right back and she if she gets distracted she will stop following. But other than that, she is doing an awesome job with her training!

Shadow is doing an amazing job with her off leash training! She no longer has a leash attached to her when we are out and about. She is responding to all commands off leash, walking by an ignoring distractions we pass by . We just need a little more work on duration.
