Olive | Labrador Retriever | Yorba Linda, CA | In-Training

Olive, a 5 year old Labrador Retrieve, joined OffLeash SoCal for our two week board and train program. Olive is a very sweet and loving girl. Olive likes to run away, pull on the leash when walking, and lacks following commands when distracted. Over the next two weeks she will be working on her off leash obedience and manners. Check in to see her progress!

Today I introduced and conditioned Olive to the ecollar. We practiced commands sit, down, and place. Place is a command where Olive must sit or lay on a defined object. This command is great for building confidence as well as teaching her to be relaxed and calm. Olive did a great job on first day of training!

Today Olive and I went to the park to work on her commands. We practiced come to sit and heel. Heel is still a work in progress, but she is no longer trying to drag me. Olive was very distracted and interested in everything else when we first got to the park, but after training for awhile she began to focus and pay attention to me.

Today Olive and I stayed home and worked on her obedience commands. We practiced come to sit, place, and down. She figured out how to get onto the trampoline today. Now, that’s her favorite place to hang out and play with her friends.

Today Olive and I went to the park to work on her commands. Now we are starting to work on her duration, holding her commands for longer periods of time. She very scent driven, meaning her nose is always to the ground sniffing. In the video you can see I made her work on the grass, which was very hard for her because all she wanted to do sniff. I am teach Olive no matter the distraction (Visual or Scent), she needs to stay focused on me.

Today I took Olive to Huntington Beach to work on her commands around distractions. When we first got there she was a little overwhelmed and excited, so she wasn't paying attention to me. Once we started walking around she was able to calm down and relax and was able to focus and follow commands.

Today Olive and I practiced her commands around the neighborhood. Olive is almost ready to be off leash! I didn't hold the leash at all today. I let drag it around while she followed all my commands. She did very good, specially with the heel command and me not having to hold the leash. She stayed right at my side and stayed focused on me.

Today Olive and I worked on her commands around the neighborhood. She decided she no longer likes the doggie pool and prefers swimming in the jacuzzi.
