Loki and I spend the day getting to know each other! We had our first lesson today. We worked on his come to sit as well as his heel command. Loki also worked on getting used to the e-collar. He was a bit startled at first but seemed to get used it after a while. Loki did try to bark at a couple of dogs today while out on our walk but after a couple of corrections he seemed to think twice before wanting to bark! Overall, Loki is being a really good boy and is getting used to his kennel. He did whine a bit but after a while he seemed to calm down. He ate half of his food. He did seem a bit anxious today but that’s normal for his first day. I can’t wait for you to see how he progresses!

Loki went to a Cheviot Hills Park to work on his come to sit and heel around other trainers and their pups. He did really well with his come to sit but is very anxious. After a couple of minutes, Loki was able to get used to his surroundings and seemed to relax. There were a lot of dogs that were off leash and passed by him, Loki would stare intently but didn’t make the effort to bark at them. While working on heel, Loki didn’t like the pressure of the leash so he would try and pull against me if he felt me trying to pull him forward. Overall, Loki is being a really good boy and is learning so much already.

Loki and I worked on more of his come to sit today at Rynerson Park. He really struggles with being able to sit unless there is a bit of pressure pushing his butt down. After a couple of tries he was able to sit when he worked on his come to sit command. He still doesn’t sit if I just ask him to sit. We also worked on his heel today. He is doing really great and doesn’t try to pull me as much. He will stop when he doesn’t want to walk any further and pull back on the leash. After about a minute he’ll give in and keep walking. He did bark at a couple of dogs today and jogger. I quickly corrected him but he still seemed to want to stare them down. Loki is slowly getting the hang of walking my pace and at my side, he’ll want to lag behind at times. We’re also working on getting him used to passing by other cars. Loki wanted to walk up to every car that was driving by and would try and pull me towards the direction of the cars. He would even try to get out of the leash or try to pull me towards them. Overall, Loki is improving little by little and is being a really good boy. He is very timid with me still so I’m trying to spend as much time as I can with him to gain more of his trust. Loki hasn’t gone potty since yesterday morning but has been eating majority of his food. He is also drinking plenty of water!

Loki worked on his heel today around dog and people distractions. He was really anxious when we got to The Grove and would try and hide behind me. He would also try and walk over to any one who resembled his owner. After a bit of heeling he seemed to calm down. He does get nervous when walking past another dog, even if they’re not close to him. He didn’t bark and tried his hardest to stay in a command. We worked on more of his come to sit today as well. It’s still a work in progress but he’s doing a lot better. We introduced place as well as down today. He was able to jump on objects such as a stone block or bench no problem. We even worked on his extended sit as well. Loki did have a bit of trouble with his down. He didn’t want to down and would try and roll on the ground when there was any leash pressure. Overall, Loki did a really awesome job today.
