Jasmine | Dogo Argentino | Mission Viejo, CA | In-Training

Jasmine, an 8 month old Dogo Argentino, has joined OffLeash SoCal for our two week board and train program. Jasmine is a very sweet and docile girl. She is a bit timid and shy in new surroundings, easily distracted, and doesn’t always follow commands. Over the next two week Jasmine will be working on her off leash obedience and manner. Check in to see her progress!

Today I introduced and conditioned Jasmine to the ecollar. We practiced commands sit and place. Place is a command where Jasmine must sit or lay on a defined object. This command is great for building confidence as well as teaching Jasmine to be calm and relaxed. She was scared of the dog cot at first, but once I showed her it was fine, Jasmine hopped right on to it no problem. Her other furry friends helped her out and showed her that it was okay.

Today Jasmine and I practiced commands place and sit some more. We started working on a new command, Down. Jasmine is a fast learner, but she tries to be stubborn and not listen. We are still working on her going into the crate willingly. Tonight she went a little bit easier. I still had to lead Jasmine to the crate, but she walked right in without a struggle.

Jasmine working on her loose leash heel. It’s still a work in progress, but she did great and caught on within 10 minutes!

Today Jasmine and I spent the day out in Hollywood. We practiced her commands in high distractions. She was a bit nervous with all the commotion going on around us, so it was hard for her to focus on me. After walking around for awhile, she got tired and stopped being scared of everything that was going on around us. She became more focused on me and was able to do the commands that I asked of her.

Sorry for delay, issues with uploading video to the app. Jasmine and I went to the park and worked on all her commands. We practiced a lot of duration work. She is doing a great job! Jasmine is almost ready to start working off leash.

Today Jasmine and I worked on all her obedience commands at home. We practiced working without the leash today. She did pretty good. I let her doggie friends play and be a distraction while she worked. It was hard for to resist joining them, but she listened and followed my commands. Jasmine is doing great with going into the crate now. She walks right in when I give her the "crate" command, but won't go into the crate that is in my car. I am still working on getting Jasmine to like the car.
