Happy Easter! Ginger has settled in well at my home. She is having a blast with all her new doggie friends.

Today Ginger and I worked on her training at home. I introduced and conditioned her to the ecollar. We practiced commands Sit and Place. Place is a command where Ginger must sit or lay on a defined object. This command is great for building confidence as well as teaching her to be calm and relaxed. She did great on her first day of training!

Today Ginger and I went to the park to work on her commands. We practiced two new commands: Come to Sit and Heel. Heel is still a work in progress, but Ginger is walking much better now. She’s staying close to my side and not trying to drag me around.

Today Ginger and I went to the park to work on her obedience commands. We worked on two new commands: Down and Come to Heel. Come to Heel was a little tricky for her, but Ginger started to get the hang of it. Down is not her favorite command to do. She gave me a bit of a struggle with this one.

Today I took Ginger and I went to The Citadel Outlet to start working on her obedience around distractions. It was a bit overwhelming for her. In the video you can see she was timid and worried about everything going on around us. As we practiced her commands Ginger started to relax and focus more. The outings we do, the more confident she will become.

Today Ginger and her friend, Coyote, joined me on a shopping spree at The Block at Orange. They practiced their obedience around distractions. Ginger was nervous again, but with her buddy by her side, she felt more comfortable. Ginger and I worked her nervousness by practicing her commands. The more she had to focus on her commands, the less she was worried about the commotion around us.

Today Ginger and I went to the park to work on her commands. She practiced her commands semi-off leash! I let her drag the leash around while we practiced. Ginger did pretty good. We need to tighten up a few of her commands and soon she will be working completely off leash.

Today Ginger and I went to Lowes to work on her off leash obedience around distractions. She was a bit nervous with the loud noises and carts in there, but we worked through it. She was able to follow her commands and stay focused on me.

Today Ginger and I went to the park to work on her off leash obedience. We met with other OffLeash SoCal trainers and their pups, so Ginger got to practice around many dog distractions. She was nervous around everyone in the beginning, so I had to hold her leash and guide her around the dogs and people. Once she walked past them a few times she relaxed, became more confident, and she was able to walk around everyone without me holding the leash.

Today Ginger and I went to The Citadel Outlet to work on her off leash obedience around distractions. She did pretty well except when it came to little kids and rolling objects. A little girl tried to pet her, but Ginger shied away and hid behind me. When strollers or carts passed by us she would try to get away from them.

Today Ginger and I stayed home for training. We practice her off leash obedience with her friends as a distraction. It was a bit hard for her because she wanted to join in on their fun, but she stayed focused and followed through with her commands. Once our training was over, she got to join friends and play.
