Beckett went to a local park to start his first lesson. We introduced the e-collar as well as the heel and sit command. He was really excited and wanted to pull me at first. Slowly, he learned that pulling wasn’t okay. He did amazing ignoring other dogs today and was more interested in all of the leaves and grass. Beckett also ate all of his dinner and in adjusting well to his kennel. He was even able to jump in after a couple of running starts! Overall, Beckett can’t wait to show you all that he learns!

Beckett worked on his heel today. He is slowly getting the hang of walking next to me. He is a little anxious and timid so sometimes he doesn’t want to come out of his kennel. Once he is out he wants to go right back in the car, he even tries to pull me towards random peoples cars. We’re working on having him be more patient during loading and more comfortable with unloading time. We spent the day getting to know each other during his training. After a couple of reps on heel and his come command he started wagging his tail more. He doesn’t seem to want to be pet as much since he turns his body away when anyone wants to give him any attention. Overall, he did really well for his lessons and he will slowly come out of his shell. He also made his back paw nail bleed, he was scratching at his collar. It wasn’t a lot of blood. His nails are really short so him scratching made his nail bleed. I put some kwik stop powder on his nail and the bleeding stopped. He nibbled at his breakfast and dinner so he didn’t finish it. He is drinking plenty of water. He is a hood boy!

Beckett started his morning with a 30 minute jog around my neighborhood! We worked on his heel and keeping him close to me. He did try to pull me a couple of times but didn’t continue to pull heavily like he did before. We also worked around my car today with the trunk open, he kept thinking we were going to go in. Once he realized we weren’t getting in the car he seemed to be doing a lot better. He did get a bit spooked today at loud cars that would pass by on the main street durning our job, he didn’t pull me and recovered quickly. We also worked on confidence building at a local park. He didn’t want to jump up on the bench or the slide at first. After a couple of reps he didn’t mind. There was a time when we were going up some stairs that he didn’t want to go up them at all. He planted his whole body on the floor. After a couple of coaxing, he finally went up the narrow steps! Overall, Beckett is being a good boy!

Beckett worked on his heel today at Glendale Galleria. We went for an early morning walk before training today and that seemed to help him with his anxiety. He was still nervous and was physically shaking while we were out today. His tail was wagging and he seemed to be happy to be around other trainers and their pups. He would still look around and get spooked with super loud noises or people walking a little too close. He is getting better with his extended sit and down. He does get up sometimes. We reset and try again and he does better. We also introduced the place command again. He doesn’t mind jumping up on objects now which is great! He is also a little more comfortable being around me. He doesn’t mind me petting him as much and gets so excited when he gets a lot of praise for doing a good job! Overall, Beckett is a good boy and is improving every day!

Beckett worked on all of his commands today at Century City mall. He is getting a lot better with his heel command. Today he was a bit spooked when another dog in training would pass by him. He would try to avoid the dog and get up from his down position. He is still really anxious and still shakes when we’re out in public. He is still eating only half of his food but is drinking plenty of water. Overall, Beckett is being a good boy and is slowly getting the hang of everything!

Pupdate 12/24/2021

Beckett worked on his heel around Glendale Galleria. He is getting a lot better at staying near me. If he gets spooked or overwhelmed, he walks a little ahead of me. Beckett also has trouble with other dogs passing him when he’s in a down position. I had a couple of other trainers and their pups walk by him. He did get up a couple of times but after a while he seemed to not be as nervous about them. He is getting the hang of his come to sit as well as his extended down and sit commands! Overall, Beckett is being a really good boy!

Beckett worked from home during Christmas! We went on a long walk and practiced his heel and duration sit and down. Beckett did get a bit overwhelmed with all of the neighborhood cats and other dogs that passed. Beckett started his morning with a long walk/jog around my neighborhood. We went to Little Lake Park where there were a lot of distractions he wasn’t used to. There were a lot of birds and ducks. Even a couple of other dogs that were playing off leash. He was really anxious and timid working around the roaming ducks. He would try and scoot back as far as possible and pull me in the opposite direction. He is getting a lot better with his heel but will try to hide behind me if he gets too nervous. We also worked from home practicing his door and food manners. He did try to get up a couple of times to try and follow me out the door but soon got the hang of it. He also enjoyed some play time before enjoying a treat before bed! Overall, Beckett is doing such a good job and is being a good boy!

Beckett worked on all of his commands at Cheviot Hills Park. We worked on his heel which is coming out amazing. We were actually able to walk with no leash tension, we had the leash dragging on the floor. It did take him a couple of minutes to get used to his environment. He is a really anxious boy so needs more time to get used to his environment before working. He is doing a lot better with his extended down and sit! We even had multiple dog distractions today and he didn’t get up. Whenever he does get a little nervous though, he will default to going in a down from his sitting position. I just reset him and try again and he seems to do a lot better. Overall, Beckett is progressing well and is being such a good boy! He ate all of his breakfast and dinner and is drinking plenty of water. He is such a sweet boy!

Beckett went to Home Depot where we met up with other trainers and their pups! We worked on all of his commands with the leash dragging behind us, no leash pressure. It did take us a couple of minutes to get him used to the new environment. He was really anxious and breathing heavy. After a while, he seemed a lot better and was ready to train! He has gotten so much better with all of his commands and even is more confident. He was really curious about small items that he could climb on top of such as a paint bucket! He also enjoyed a nice evening walk in between the rain! He practiced more of his commands in my home! Beckett is a sweet boy! He ate only half of his food today.

Beckett and I started our day by going to a local park to jog. We worked on all of his commands today and also practiced his come to sit a bit more. Beckett is getting a lot better and is being a really good boy! We also stopped by Home Depot to work around some of the noise again. He was really spooked yesterday. Today he did a lot better but it took him some time to relax. Beckett worked on all of his commands off leash today at the Glendale Galleria! It took him a while to get used to all of the dog distractions before we were able to start working. We went to The Block at Orange to work on all of his commands around other trainers and their pups. Beckett and I started our day by going in a long walk around my neighborhood! He was really interested in all of the people who were also walking their dogs. He didn’t make an effort to try and go up to them. We also went to Home Depot today to work on his distractions. He did have an upset tummy so he had a couple of accidents in Home Depot. After relaxing for a bit, we continued our training in my home where we worked on his manners in my home and his place command. He wanted to put his paws up on the counter so we corrected the behavior by not allowing him to do that. After a couple of tries he did a great job! We also worked on place. I made the place smaller by adding pillows so he got more comfortable sitting in such a small space! He did great! He also ate half of his breakfast fast and dinner. I did add some cooked chicken to sooth his tummy!

We did have a bit of trouble getting him on a metal bench, he thought he was going to fall through. We worked him through it and he seemed to be doing a lot better! We ended the day by having some off leash fun in a park before dinner and bed. His tummy has settled a bit since yesterday, his stool is a lot more solid than it was before. Overall, Beckett is doing amazing and is improving very well! He still has a lot of anxiety but that is something he is slowly learning to deal with.

Beckett did need some time to get adjusted to the loud environment but did really well overall! He has gained so much confidence and is slowly needing less time to calm his anxiety before we work.
